The inability to lookup values that contains a hyphen (minus) appears to be a bug in Microsoft's Dictionary control. Not sure if/how I can work around that. I look into it further.
The dropdown is a "feature" of Microsoft's WebView2 browser control, so nothing that I have purposely introduced. I agree that it is annoying. I'll see if it can be turned off. | Posted: Topic Replies: 69, Topic Views: 13108 |

Hi Marcel, I will certainly look into that error.

Quote: Does anybody has the Server Error in '/' Application error? When viewing your online collection you 'll see this error in your last added or top profile, in my case The Conan Chronicles Collection: Limited Edition. When viewing at your main screen with the 5 last added movies in your list, the last added one has a broken picture symbol.
Any solution to this problem? I don't see this problem in my collection, or in any other collection that I have checked, except yours. I would suggest that you run a database repair, then edit something in that profile (just so it's flagged as changed), then re-upload your collection. See if that fixes it. | Posted: Topic Replies: 11, Topic Views: 8169 |

Quoting Lowpro (from an old thread):
Quote: There are 3 options when creating a database with the mobile app, "Connect to DVD Profiler for PC", "Connect via DVD Profiler Online" and "Local Database". The "Local Database" type does not provide for syncing your collection with DVD Profiler for PC or DVD Profiler Online. You'll have to change your Connection Type first by selecting the "Databases" menu item. From the "Databases" screen under the "Databases" option select your database. On the next screen select the "Change Connection Type" option. From there you can change your connection type to "DVD Profiler for PC" or "DVD Profiler Online".
If your collection only exists on your iPhone select the "DVD Profiler Online" connection type.
Once you've changed the connection type to "DVD Profiler Online" return to the "Databases" screen and select your database from the "Update Database" option. From there log in to your account. Once logged in you'll be taken to the "Select Update Task" page. At the top of the page there are options to "Upload" from your iPhone or "Download" from DVD Profiler Online. Below those options you're shown a comparison of the database on your iPhone versus your database online. Select the "Upload" option.
Once uploading the database from your iPhone you'll have the option obviously to download your online database to your iPhone if you ever need to. With your online database in place you could then download it from DVD Profiler for PC if you want. Once downloaded to DVD Profiler for PC you could even start syncing locally between DVD Profiler for PC and your iPhone, occassionally uploading from "DVD Profiler for PC" to "DVD Profiler Online" keeping your online database updated as well. You'd do this by either creating a new database on your iPhone using the "DVD Profiler for PC" connection type, then downloading your DVD Profiler for PC database to your iPhone or instead change your "DVD Profiler Online" connection type to "DVD Profiler for PC" and start syncing.
So basically you cannot copy your entire phone collection to the PC via wi-fi. It can only be done through the online. Only after that will the wi-fi sync work as intended. If you cannot upload to the online from the phone, then you're out of luck, I'm afraid. | Posted: Topic Replies: 2, Topic Views: 2657 |

TurboCLT 1.3.0
Now shows Alternate names and Names from common name thread. See help file for more info.
Profile entries color coded. Green = name found in normal Profiler name credit (no Credited-As). Red = name found in Credited-As.
Searched name highlighted in Display profile so it's easier to find.
Also fixed some cosmetic anomalies. | Posted: Topic Replies: 69, Topic Views: 13108 |

The announcement from Ken Cole on Feb 25 triggered a lot of jubilations from people who had missed Ken for these 6+ years. But was it actually posted by Ken himself, of by someone else at Invelos? And what does it all mean? Well, I can only speculate.
The good news. Investing in new servers must surely mean that Invelos isn't ready to throw in the towel on DVD Profiler.
The not so good news. It's been more than a week, and the system is still only partially working. No further announcements. How long will this take? This is severely hurting Invelos' and DVD Profiler's reputation, something that we truly don't need right now.
The Android news. "We're aware of the Android app absence, and will be working to resolve soon." Some have taken this to mean that the Android app will be updated to support newer phone models. While I would like to believe that it is so, I suspect that it just means that they'll try to get the same old app back on Google Play Store.
The bottom line. I would truly like to think that the announcement was made by Ken himself. However, Ken designed the backend system, and he is the one who knows it inside and out. The fact that it takes so long to fix it makes me think that Ken is not involved. I would absolutely love it if Ken was actually back, and even more so if it meant that some updates to the programs were in the making. But alas, I am cautiously pessimistic.

I tested renaming my OnlineList.dod and OnlineListSel.dod, and sure enough I could not download new versions of these, and could not add new titles. Renamed back and everything worked.
So it would seem that unless you have uncorrupted versions of these files, you're currently out of luck.
Hopefully this will soon be fixed. | Posted: Topic Replies: 7, Topic Views: 5251 |

I'm surprised to learn that so many users have problems adding new titles to their database. It works just fine for me. This makes me think that there is one of two explanations:
1) This only affects some titles. - or - 2) There is a problem locally for those who experience this problem.
The second explanation seems the most likely. So probably something went wrong when you tried to access the online database while it was down. And it would seem that it's not something that gets fixed by a database repair.
So, in order to find out where the problem lies, I would suggest the following first step. Create a new database (File / Open Database / New Database). Can you add a title to this new database? Can anyone let me know if this works for you? | Posted: Topic Replies: 7, Topic Views: 5251 |

And now it seems to be in both places. Well, that works for me. | Posted: Topic Replies: 7, Topic Views: 5165 |

Most of the website seems to be OK, but the CLT now appears under pending updates, and if you select Database / Tools / Credit Lookup you get the "currently offline" message. This means that screen scraping tools like TurboCLT and CLTBoss won't work. Hopefully the CLT will be back to its correct place soon. | Posted: Topic Replies: 7, Topic Views: 5165 |

Not sure if this is any help, but I have a small utility that just checks if it can connect to TCP.

Wait.
It's very hard to figure out the logic behind the times it takes. One thing that is clear is that contributions that have 0 votes take a lot longer than contributions that have Yes votes. I have a few contributions from January 27 that is still waiting, but I'm sure they will get processed eventually. | Posted: Topic Replies: 28, Topic Views: 9022 |

TurboCLT 1.2.0
Someone thought that it was actually a good idea to not use production year, instead treating all profiles with the same title as one title. So now you get a choice. See Settings.
At the same time I fixed a couple of more minor bugs, and added some other features.
- You can now search the results for any random string. - There is also a context menu item for opening the contribution notes. - And finally, there is a context menu item named Display profile. It opens a window like this:
All is revealed in the updated help file. | Posted: Topic Replies: 69, Topic Views: 13108 |

A tip:
When you download a profile, DVD Profiler does a refresh of your database. If you have a large database, this will take a little bit of time. So if you intend to download a lot of profiles in order to fix them, you might consider creating a new empty database just for this purpose. It will speed things up considerably. And you don't risk mixing them up with your regular database. | Posted: Topic Replies: 69, Topic Views: 13108 |

Oopsie! Something got lost!
Not sure how it happened, but TurboCLT was supposed to separate titles with different production years. Somehow that got lost. It may not be very often that someone is credited in two different films with the same title, but it happens, especially in remakes. So, this is fixed now. Example:
As a bonus, I have added a new function:
This downloads the selected profile and adds it to your collection. If you want to fix a profile that you don't own, you may want to add it to a collection other than "Owned". You select the desired collection in the Settings:
So, this is TurboCLT 1.1.0
PS: Just in case you don't know how to add Custom Collection in DVD Profiler, look at Tools / Edit Collection Categories. | Posted: Topic Replies: 69, Topic Views: 13108 |

It's pretty clear to me that several of the points under "Clarification / Adjustment to Rules" actually do overrule the standard rules. We have several "Do not ..." amendments. So it's not at all obvious that the bit about the overview doesn't also overrule the general rules. My impression is that "The standard rules do apply..." means where nothing else is stated. | Posted: Topic Replies: 17, Topic Views: 10022 |
|
I think that Ken intended for standard rules to apply. I think we should apply standard rules. That said, I don't think that the rules make that clear. Let me explain:
If the box set cover contains a listing of contents with brief descriptions of each, enter it directly into the Overview field.
Now, if standard rules do indeed apply, then this sentence is superfluous. Such a listing should have been used for the overview anyway. So the inclusion of this sentence seems to imply that standard rules do not apply. It may not make much sense, but then again it's not the only thing in the rules that doesn't make sense. | Posted: Topic Replies: 17, Topic Views: 10022 |
