"The devs" is actually one person, Ken Cole, and we haven't heard from him in over 7 years. My conclusion is that he is, for whatever reason, not available. So there is not likely to be any further development or fixes. What there is is what we have. The desktop program is a bit hobbled, but for the most part it is working. The site and the online database is still being supported by someone.
Are there shortcomings that you cannot accept, or can you live with what there is? Remember, staying with DVD Profiler as it is will cost you nothing more. As far as I know, you won't find anything of similar functionality that doesn't come with a subscription.
I chose not to focus on the negative. I am glad that I can still use DVD Profiler, such as it is. I try to support its users with my freeware tools. Other users do their bit with contributions, researching birth years and common names. So let's not make things worse by sowing discontent.
I have absolutely zero issues with the app no longer being supported, updated, maintained, whatever.
What I have a problem with is users not being informed of the state of play. That, I find absolutely unacceptable. | Posted: Topic Replies: 68, Topic Views: 16012 | | Yup i think this app is on its arse now. This just downloads the complete online profile list, you still need to Refresh Updated Profiles as usual. This is the way to accomplish the updates and it works every time. Be patent when you do the first step.
We shouldn't have to keep doing this. It's also unacceptable that we have been met with a wall of silence from the dev(s) about this long-standing issue! | Posted: Topic Replies: 68, Topic Views: 16012 | | Quoting nuoyaxin:

Quote: Can anyone say as to why this issue still exists after all these months? Is the app no longer supported? The database is maintained, the software has not been updated in many years (last version was 2017).
Thanks. Still have the same issue with updating - can only assume the app is dead. It's a shame the dev(s) doesn't come on here to let people know either way though. | Posted: Topic Replies: 68, Topic Views: 16012 | | Can anyone say as to why this issue still exists after all these months? I have to use the Ctrl method too. | Posted: Topic Replies: 68, Topic Views: 16012 | | Edit: ignore | Posted: Topic Replies: 32, Topic Views: 14676 | |
