So I've noticed that the new contributions seem to take well over two weeks to get approved and released. But just a month ago I looked at one of mine which only took 5 days...

Looking at my recent history, most seem to be approved within 5 days (which to me seems too long already), but I've had some that seem to get skipped over despite having all yes votes and those take weeks for approval. Even brand new contributions seem to take longer than contributions for existing profiles.  I thought the original intent was for those to be approved much faster.

I have a number of contributions, both new ones and updates, which are still pending 10 days after being contributed.

It is bewildering, why they haven't been assessed and approved or rejected before now.

Yeah, it seems like the approvers have just about given up on this - and then, once in a while, remember about it, and comes ind and processes the queue...

Once, new contributions were processed within 24 hours, often in less than 12, while changes took two days if they had yes-votes and four days if they had no-votes.

Now everything takes somewhere between one and three weeks...

Sounds like they need more/new approvers.

Personally, I'd volunteer but there's no way to contact them.

I submitted four new profiles on September 16 and they are still 'received'.

I submitted an update for another DVD on September 18, which received no votes either way, and it was approved and released on September 23.

I submitted updates to another profile on September 21 and, with one 'yes' vote, it was approved and released yesterday.

Where's the consistency?

"Normal" contributions to existing profiles are processed regularly - I believe because this is a fully automated process, without any involvement of an actual human being. Any regular contribution to an existing profile that doesn't draw any no-votes is automatically approved after about four or five days.

But "second level reviewing", which includes contributions of entirely new profiles, contributions that include new birth years, or contributions that have drawn at least one no-vote, still is a manual process, and that's no longer being done every day or even every week. On average, it's more like once every ten days now.

"New" contributions were usually aproved within one or two days in times gone past (because no one could vote on them), while to-be-voted-on contributions took at least a week so people could vote.

Now, new ones take a long time, don't know why

The one that got me to start this thread is going on 20 days now (guessing the person who submitted it was either 9/5 or 9/6).

Yeah, "once every ten days now" is an average, but it certainly has it's ups and downs. Sometimes it's just a couple of days, sometimes three weeks...

Yeah. I suspect whoever submitted it might've added the cast and crew which might add time to it.

But like I said, I would be willing to volunteer time to review new contributions, even if only once a week, still better than 10+ days.

I seem to be getting an average of 4/5 days for a regular contribution, but more than a week for a "new addition".

I'm not so sure it's automated or if it is there's something else in the process/equation.  I've had contributions that meet that statement which have taken up to 14 days.
