I am working my way through the just releases Star Trek: The Original Series: Season 2 on Blu-ray and there are 2 bonus Tribble related episodes on one of the discs. Should they get cast and crew data profiled or not?

They should (Divider could be something like: Episode Name - Bonus Feature)
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

If they are bonus material then no... The rule states no cast/crew for bonus material....

Rules Quote:
Quote:
Do not list actors and crew who appear only in special features, or whose scenes were deleted from the main feature, even if they appear in special features.

I recently had this with Bones Season 3 which included the first few episodes of Season 4 as a bonus.

The parent (which was copied from a US release) contained the bonus episodes....they were even numbered (incorrectly) as part of season 3.

When I created the child profiles I correctly listed these episodes as bonus episodes on their own bonus disc.

I decide this on how it's labelled in the booklet/on the box. If it simply says "Disc X Episodes Y, Z" then they are in, if it says "Bonus episodes" then it's bonus.

@Pantheon: I've heard that these episodes will not be part of the regular season 4 box and thus are profiled nowhere. That doesn't seem right to me, even if it contradicts my above statement.

I've run into that same dilemma on occasion, too: generally, I certainly don't profile "bonus episodes", but if it's literally the only place a certain episode is available, then it gets a lot harder to ignore it.

On the other hand, the Bonus Feature Film rules seem analogous to the situation at hand, when dealing with bonus episodes for a TV show.  The rule against crediting for special features relates to people who ONLY appear in the special features, so it's not exactly applicable here either, at least inofar as the cast is the same as in the main series.

Maybe I am thinking about this the wrong way, but shouldn't bonus episodes be treated the same way we treat bonus feature films?

Edit: I see gardibolt had the same thought as I did...just a minute sooner.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

But how would that work Martian? At least on most the cases I have seen this on so far. They are just bonus material on a disc that is already only for disc level profiling. So (at least most the time) we couldn't use the disc ID for the Bonus Episodes like we could for the Bonus movies Rule.

I realize this concerns bonus features and we don't normally profile bonus features by the rules, I think an exception could be made in the case of bonus "episodes."  Why do we profile episodes anyway, if not to show episodes where particular actors appear.  We all seem to be concerned about linking actors (crewmembers) in our databases -- so why would we want to ignore appearances in programs which we have merely because they are included as "bonus."

I'd like to know if I have an appearance by John Doe in an episode I can watch -- and I'm not that picky that it NOT be in a bonus feature on some other disc.

Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges.

Since we have some rules that are different for TV series, maybe there can be a rule change for allowing Bonus episodes to be profiled.

I know for some of us this data is important, even if we currently can only have it locally.
Are you local?
This is a local shop the strangers you would bring would not understand us, our customs, our local ways.

I would like to see an exception for TV Series episodes as I tend to keep that info myself locally. But what we need is for Ken to ok the exception... and then hopefully get it into the rules. I wouldn't just do it without an ok from Ken though.

NOTE: I know no one said that we should (do without Ken's ok) I just wanted to be completely clear before we started to see people try it.

I never include bonus episodes when contributing as they are against the rules. There are however rare cases where I add them locally. (Walt Disney's True Life Adventures is the only one I can think of at the moment)

Regarding exceptions for TV-Series: I would rather not have that exception, but would not fight very hard against it either. I wouldn't want a bonus episode from another show than what the dvd-set is sold as included though (For instance, I would not credit an episode of Joey in a Friends set if something like that exist)
