After the discussion in this thread, I  built a site to share all my images taken from movies. Those are used in dvdprofiler layouts that display photo galleries as in this example :



You will find in the site Images of Movies a list of movies with 10 screen shots. Those photos are 600x450 for 4/3 DVDs , or 800x450 for 16/9 DVDs or Blu-rays. Aspect ratio is respected (black bars are as on screen).

At that time (September 2011), we have about 2300 movies on this site (~23000 photos), and it is regularly completed with new movies.

This topic is made to manage the site: updates, technical feedback from users in case of problems (missing link, missing photo...)

I hope some of you will enjoy playing with dvdprofiler gallery feature, using images of movies.

I can second W0m6at's point of view. I wasn't too interested myself in the beginning, but the way you incorporated it in your layout, makes it look all real good. So a big thank you for taking the time to do all this. 

I think I'm going to have to start making (screenshot) requests!

That was the advantage of yahoo groups , where each member can add his own photos. In a near future, I'll spend most of my free time completing my site. Then it will be possible to add other contributions. Just now, I thought I would shut the yahoo group I opened, but I can keep it alive so that other members add their own photos.

I'm opened to any other vsolution, except that my knowledge in programming is near zero (know how to link some html pages together, but nothing more...).

Where are people getting the screenshots from? Are you taking them directly from your discs or is there a few sites we can visit?

My first preference is from surfeur51's website. DVD Beaver seems to be good. I've grabbed screenshots for a few movies from there (you'll probably want the list page).

It's also possible to filter on image dimensions in Google Image Search, so that can be a good place to get screenshots (although it's a bit hit and miss... and the images don't necessarily match up with what you're after). You can find the image size option in the Advanced Settings. Using the same dimensions as surfeur51 you can generally get some results.
