I've owned DVD Profiler since 2003, and provided around a thousand profiles and image scans over that time.  And I've just seen the DUMBEST update ever.  They've just approved the change of name for Terminator 2 to the LOGO on the slipcase.  Yes not even a real new name, it's been changed to T2 based on the stylized logo on the metal case.

Rules are all fine and well but this is just insanity, and when you can't rely on the reviewers to stop this sort of madness it damages the reputation of the entire product.

I going to go and bang my head on a table until I feel better.

Get in line, all the head-banging places are currently in use.

Simply lock the title locally. Any aggravation ain't worth it.

As DJ says, get in line!
Unfortunately some people can't tell the difference between a logo and a title and slavishly try and recreate exactly what they see on the cover. Lock your title and move on.
To be honest, I'm amazed it's taken 7 years for you to see such a dumb update - I usually see a lot more than that!

And Grendell, the title's obviously Star II Wars: Attack of the Clones!

Don't lough:
There's one profile with "Arthur 2 und die Minimoys", so this wouldn't be new.

Well, Arthur 1 had this nasty accident, so the Minimoys replaced him ...

I hope it also added the original title to the original title field, otherwise it should have been declined. I always keep my title fields locked btw.

I feel I should point out that this is exactly what Ken and Gerri told us to do so, please, let's not blame 'some people' for following the direction of the people who own the company.

Yup... what Martian says is true. It sounds like it was a correct (per rules) update.

Just checked that and, yes, Terminator 2: Judgement Day is in the original title field.
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

If there is just T2 on the box and the original title is correct, I wouldn't have a problem with this.

I saw this update but ignored it knowing it would go through regardless of my comments... mainly because of the rules but also because the "Extreme Edition" DVD who's slip cover is printed the same way, was changed 3 years ago.

In fact, I locked the title (the one that was just edited) several years back knowing this day would come eventually

I disagree with that statement. All I've seen from Ken and Gerri is a statement about what to do about special characters in titles. I have seen no statement from them regarding logos. I still maintain Ken and Gerri want us to record the title of the DVD, not slavishly recreate the graphical representation of that title on the cover.

I personally read Gerri herself state if it can be done on a standard keybord (without going to the character map or whatever) that it would be right.

That is why we input things such as

- Se7en
- T4xi
- Murder 8y Num8ers

I see this as no different.

I am sorry, but 'T2' is not a graphical representation of the title as it is written in plain text.  Because it is written in plain text, per the rules and the clarifications written by Ken and Gerri, it has to be entered that way.

Now, the Batman symbol, that is a graphical representation of the title and should be entered in plain text.

Neither Ken nor Gerri have stated anything about logos on the front cover as far as I remember. The question remains whether this T2 resembling thing is a logo or the title. I would consult the credit block, if available, for an answer.
