| Posted: | | | | In this thread Ken has now stated this Quoting Ken Cole: Quote: General consensus seems to be allowing child profiles for TV box sets, one profile per disc, while still having cast and crew in the parent profile, separated with dividers.
Users who don't want the child profiles don't download them. Box sets have an intrinsic automatic lock after first download, so no problem there.
For those who don't want the cast/crew in the parent profile, they clear it and lock it.
Do I have the summary right? If so, what are the objections of the dissenters? So we will have the master profile with all the information in it as well as the child profiles available to those who want them. Based on some of the comments that followed about the only question left to answer is this Do you want the box set data in the master profile or not? |

Do you want the box set data in the master profile or not? How weird is that? I got the first crack at a poll! | | | John

| Posted: | | | | As long as the program continues to treat this information in a useless manner (meaning that it has no effect on what I download or link up to my master profile) then I don't care whether that stuff is in there or not.
I sometimes like to see it as it tells me there are child profiles available if I want them. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | If the answer is to add the boxset contents to the parent profile, I would request that the Rules be updated to reflect that change, since not everybody comes to this forum. The Rules are the only reference available to everyone.
I still say it is inconsistent to say for this one field (boxset contents) we are going to treat the parent as a "boxset profile", but for every other field we are not. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

Larry What do you expect from a state that brings the world OD'ing musicians and serial killers (yes, I'm from WA)... Skip good, because there are other polls yes but none dealing with this last issues to be settled. The is no more interim solution. Ken has said we can and should use both since that would seem to please everyone. All that's left is do we want the box set info in the master. As of this post the count is: I want the box set data for the children included in the master profile (19) I do not want the box set data for the children included in the master profile (6) I don't have an opinion either way on this subject (4) I say we give it a day, but if the trend holds up..... Next step is to move the discussion back to the rules forum for revised wording and hopefully a speedy implementation by Ken or Gerri |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not even sure this should be a poll, because it doesn't make sense to NOT do this. It's a fair compromise for everyone. Those of us who don't like profiles don't have to have them, and still have our cast & crew information in the master profile - for those that do want the child profiles, all it takes is a little C&P. | | | "I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question: Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?
