And the point of your post is? Are you going to post every wrong no vote you encounter or only those made by Skip? The vote is wrong, ok, but is it really necessary to bring the voting process to the forums? I think not, as the systems generally works pretty well.

Is there a forum Rule somewhere that I am not aware of that says that we cannot bring voting issues to here?

None that I know of, but it's still unnecessary, because the voting system should take care of this, especially with the 52:1 vote.

Quote:
Or do you only complain when it involves Skip?

You should know me better than that, I'll complain about whatever and whoever I please and see fit, but I usually try not to address others that I don't know well enough in a derogatory manner.

I'm not interested in taking part in the petty feuds surrounding the lot of you guys, I'm rather sick and tired of it after having to put up with it for more than a year now (for me, this s$%t already started back at Intervocative when Skip and Lopek went at it).

Especially since this issue now involves far more than just two opponents. And don't tell me to block those users, I'm not interested in cencoring myself simply because a bunch of adults are unable to behave according to their age and level of intelligence but rather develop childish antics and impose their quarrels on everybody else.

And coming to the forum to whine "Skip did something wrong" for an absolutely insignificant reason is nothing but another try to provoke him into an argument to continue the fights. We have a well working voring system. Wrongly cast votes are usually picked up by Gerri who accepts profiles according to the rules. There's no need to bring no votes to the forums to discuss (something I have told Skip several times as well).

And now get back in the ring all of you and continue ripping each other's throats.

I'm bored

I had thought exactly the same.

Well, I have no problem with people bringing votes here for clarification or confirmation.  Everyone is not quite as certain of the interpretation of the Rules as others feel they are, and reliance on the screeners is not always goign to result in a correct decision.

In fact, my contribution for changing the title to "M:i:III" (the DVD Cover title) and Original title of "Mission: Impossible III" (the on screen title) was declined with a vote of 25 to 1 (1 no vote that is), when clearly those entries are correct.

Reliance on the voting system works in most cases, but not always.

I wonder who the one sane person voting against it was.

Assume you want to add this DVD to your collection by title. Which title would you most likely enter to search for?

Neither do I. But read Grendell's post again and I'm sure you'll have to admit that it does not seem he's looking for clarification or confirmation of a certain understanding of rules. It's quite obvious what's intended by the post, that is dragging Skip out in the open to try and defend his vote and spark another fight.

Agreed. But the reasonable approach to ascertain or verify a rule interpretation would be to post the question at hand in a general fashion, reach a conclusion and point the user(s) affected by it to the discussion and its arguments and decision. That's how arguing and educating should work. Of course, that means you can't pick another fight over this issue and are actually behaving like a grown up.

Like I said, usually the system works fine, if something like this happens, calling the user casting the "no" vote out in the forums is not going to change the submission. Providing better and more explanatory contributuion notes for Gerri to see might help much faster, and if all else fails, I use local locks. It's a lot less time consuming and bothersome than engaging in fruitless battles, especially when the opponents have dug themselves so deep in their trenches.

Unfortunately, the new Title Rule has nothing to do with sanity.

It says "Use the title from the DVD front cover".

Since it was a contribution by hal9g, I was kinda afraid it could be you. Thanks for clarifying that it was not.

As I said I resent whomever it was aimed, it was unnecessary and insulting whether it was aimed at me or not, is totally irrelevant.

I could be reading him wrong, but I am guessing it was aimed at everyone that voted 'yes'.  I took no offense, as I agree with him in principle, but the rule is quite clear and we will end up with a few of these oddballs.  Such is life and the reason locks were invented.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
