| Posted: | | | | Quoting Jubal: Quote: The natives get restless very quickly around here, Doc. They get tired of the old toy and start demanding a new toy, then start castin aspersions on the program and on Ken and Gerri. This an old drill and users such as CakeDC we have seen before, nor do I have much patience for. Good-bye, Cake, don't let the hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
I will repeat what have said everytime for years, Ken, when he releases a Beta is light years ahead of most Programs in that his Betas are typically very stable and cause no system issues, minimal at worst. The new Programs (versions, IPhone, whatever) will come when they come not a second before. Being impatient about it will not get what you want accomplished any sooner, just be patient, if you are not happy about being patient then you are free to go somewhere else...no one here will stop you. But I will not put up with denigrating the Program, ken or Gerri because YOU (whoever YOU are) lack the maturity to exercise patience.
Skip Skip (I think? What's with the wacky name change?) is 100% right. I used to be one of the whiners as far as this goes...but Ken has the track record of proving himself. While I don't necesasrily agree with the "go silent for long periods of time" approach, he always comes through, and comes through big. Anxiously awaiting the DVDP iPhone app. | | | "I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question: Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?
No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor. No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God. No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose… Rapture." |

Quote: When comes the DVD Profiler iPhone? I wait and wait but there is no release. When comes the release?
My personal opinion, ...... NEVER ?? it's been announced that it will be released - so why do you think that it will be never? | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | I just switched to a new program called DVDpedia. I have it on the Mac so I am not to sure if there is a PC version. Anyway, it's pretty good. I think it does pretty much everything DVD Profiler does. One cool feature is when someone borrows a movie, DVDpedia records it in my calendar & it even sends an e-mail to the person if it is late. DVDpedia allowed me to import my entire DVD Profiler collection including cover art. I didn't have to type in any information, it was awesome. The layout I think is cleaner (cover flow) and is more user friendly to navigate. I am very pleased with my switch it was only $18.00. It was totally worth the money. | | | Last edited: by CAKEKDC |

Let's see ... and the online database, contributions review process, automated download of updated profiles, sychronized mobile collection, value-added (mostly free) plugins, command scripts, reports, custom views, HTML pages, Cast/Crew Gallery, Charts/Graphs and what did I forget ... How does it stack up to those? Probably the most complex element of DVD Profiler is its sophisticated data model, tailored to the "DVD" format and its mostly movie content. Anybody can make a glossy front-end GUI that sucks up the Profiler XML stream and pictures. None of my business, but I sure hope Ken is getting a nice royality from those guys ... (Uh well ok, I couldn't resist to go take a look. I guess if I had a Mac, I'd pick it up, but as I suspected, there is no central database for adding new DVD after the initial import from Profiler. Seems to be an automated scrape of Amazon/Imdb, etc. to collect the movie info and build the profile for you ... ) | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |
