Back to the topic, I voted "Cropped" because I think the gain in appearance outweighs the loss of image.  I crop all my images, very tightly and I never felt I lost part of the images.  I prefer a square images to round corner even if it means losing a little bit.  I think "Filling" alters the original image just as much as "Cropping" so in my opinion, they should either both be allowed or banned but I don't believe one is acceptable if the other is not.

Not to mention that no two set of eyeballs perceive all thoise factors in the same way. I have had numerous arguments with some users who seem to believe that their own eyeballs are infallible. I cn only say for myself that I keep all of my own hardware calibrated on a continuing basis. But that's neither here nor there. I have argued with one user who seems to believe himself a god of color judgement, but whose own work when I have seen it, quite frankly is some of the worst I have seen.<shrugs>

I believe if I am not mistaken, that I explained this already, there is aLOOOOOONG established convention as to how we do covers, one that I have nothing to do with, but I do agree with it aesthetically. It was NOT addressed in the Rules for the reasons that we recognized that not every users has the ability, software or skills to do it and we did not want to discourage them from Contributing..

Bump: Was discussing this with Taro and did a Google search and found this poll. Personally, though it's not a deal breaker either way, I prefer squared corners (so long as it's new scans being submitted.

I originally said that I prefer how it is when you look at the case... if rounded then rounded scans. If squared then squared scans.

Since then I got myself a scanner and from a scanners perspective I now prefer squared off... filling the corners in (not cropped!). So I just changed my vote in this thread.
