alex,

in a previous post of this thread, you will see a post by Gerri Cole. Gerri is one of the owners of Invelos. If you will click on her name, you will see a screen with a section where all you have to do to contact her is either click on the sentence that says "Send Gerri a PM" or the sentence that says "Send Gerri an email."

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your tip. I believe that by now, she already knows about my addition to this thread  .

Cheers,
Alex.

Not necessarily Alex. Looks like Ken & Gerri have gone walkabout again as I've had contributions pending approval for a week now. Your posts may go unread for a while until they get caught up again. Perhaps sending a personal message or email would be the better option.

Edited: I really don't see your opposition to using PayPal as a payment option. I've had a PayPal account since 1,999 and have never had a problem with them.

You can't add new DVDs because they aren't getting added to the Intervocative database anymore.
Say "No" to the refresh then untick the "download profile" box and you'll be allowed to add them manually.

I have some DVDs that were released before the ver. 3 came out, so I should be able to add them without contacting the main Dbase to get the new releases. That’s what I did this morning before upgrading. I would be OK even if I have to do this manually. But, I can’t add them either way.

When I say “No” nothing happens. The dialog box disappears without any other option. If I say “Yes”, it just gives me the error and dialog box disappears.

Although you'd be much better off using the restricted 3.0 version and waiting until other payment options are made available.

I didn’t like the basic layout offered in ver. 3. I can’t change this to something else, because – no code. Additionally, features that I often use are locked now. So, back to ver. 2.4 for now..

I also think you were a bit hard on Invelos - they're not exactly a mega-corporation, and as far as I'm concerned they're doing a great job.

I somewhat agree with you. I don’t dispute that they are small company doing a great job. But not having a contact number or e-mail address has nothing to do with this. I deal with small companies (even one-man shops) and they all provide a way to contact them.

And I still think that they should provide additional ways of purchasing/paying for the code, BEFORE locking features that were free in previous versions. This way all this would be avoided (not to mention all those hours I lost today!!!!)

It must be very hard running a small business and I'm sure it doesn't help when people get snotty just because Invelos use a payment service they don't like!

I don’t think that I’m snotty. I don’t trust PayPal and I’ll never use it! It is my preference and privilege. Credit cards are invented for the reason.

Anyway, let’s just stop here. All this would not be necessary and easily avoidable IF this company provided a way to contact them…

Thanks for your help,
Alex.

There is nothing wrong with PayPal, and no reason not to trust it.  I've used it for as long as its been around without a problem, and I've had a business grade account with them for over 5 years now that has saved me untold hassles with transactions of all kinds.

As far as contacting the company, you can post a message here to Ken or Gerri without any problems at all.  They don't have a whole customer service department; its a small 2 person company.  Why don't you just quit complaining and cough up the $30 for a Premium registration.  Even if it doesn't do everything you want, its is still light years ahead of anything else out there.

I’ll be waiting for other ways of purchasing the code. This program is good and I spent many days entering all my DVD collection. I’m a patient man and for the product I like I’m willing to wait. I just hope not much longer…

Thanks for your help  ,
Alex.

You answered all the questions professionally and well natured..

But you failed this question:
If you don't have your Paypal account approach a family member or friend and have his Paypal account pay for you and you just reimburse your lender. The email address that you use for download services etc can be different than the email address used for Paypal to reimburse Invelos.

I will wait to see if they are going to add additional payment methods soon, as Gerry mentioned in her post. If not, I know now their e-mail address and I will ask them for the info.

As for the PayPal, it is my personal opinion and I’m not willing to get deeper into this.

Thanks,
Alex.

I don’t want to use PayPal. There are other ways of payment methods.

I didn’t complain. My original post was not about complaining, but my observations on certain issues. I do believe that as a user/customer I can say if I have an issue/problem.

I want to pay as I already said earlier. I have no problem with this.

I never said that it doesn’t do everything. It does and even more than I’ll ever need. I always said that this is a great product. I agree with you that this is superior product comparing to others.

I wish we stop here with this subject.

Cheers,
Alex.

Sorry, I missed this part of your question.

I don’t have any friend/relative that uses PayPal, otherwise I would probably ask them to do me a favour.

I’m sorry that this all got this far. It was not my intention. If I knew the contact e-mail address, I would not post here.

Thanks again,
Alex.

One of the largest german computer magazines disagrees. They collected a lot of cases where people lost their money using Paypal and Paypal did nothing. They always found a reason why "unfortunately" in this case they could do nothing about it. And of course it was never Paypal's fault.

Fortunately in Germany the bank account system is a bit different than in the U.S. and I returned to the old ways to transfer money when it comes to eBay transactions.

I would say that's a problem with Germany then, not Paypal.  They couldn't get away with that sort of thing here in the US. I have had occasion to file complaints with them twice and both times things were handled professionally and promptly to my satisfaction -- and yes, I got my money back both times.  Most of the time when something goes wrong, it isn't Paypal's fault.  Almost always it can be traced to either the buyer or seller not following proper procedures, or because of outright attempts to defraud.  You can't hold Paypal responsible for such problems.

Hello,

I've got a problem when it comes to purchase dvdprofiler.
I had a really bad experience with Paypal that lead to my account being locked, which I'm perfectly fine with. The problem is that when I want to pay for dvdprofiler, it tells me that my credit card number is related to a Paypal account and that I HAVE to use Paypal in order to validate the payment.

What can I do to avoid this ?

Here is the way another site that is over seas handles this type of situation. (Well not exactly this type.)
They send the funds to someone who can use Paypal, and then arrange with the person they order from to credit the 1st user with the payment. Maybe you can work out something like this with Ken & Geri.

Just an idea that might solve this for everyone.
