Any ideas on whats different in software between safe mode and dignostic mode?

The diagnostic mode also starts the debugger.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I do not have a choice on antivirus.  It had latest antivirus.

It is the same stuff installed on many systems, so I doubt it came with a virus.  I have daily scans that run, none have reported any issues.

Sounds like you are on a corporate network on your business computer. Have you made sure with your sysadmin, that you have the proper privileges on your machine, to install and run your own software? There might be a policy in your company's LAN, preventing DVDP from proper installation or running...
