Now if someone can tell me if I can import a list to my Ipod since I'm no so High ended to have a PDA
that would be nice as i see there is another porgram that does so.

I have an Ipod plugin, that's free for the downloading, but I think in order to use it, you need the paid DVDp program.

It's really a terrible thing that someone who can afford an IPOD can't find $30 to pay for a software package.

That's because she can't copy the iPod for free; if she could, she would.

In the third post, Ron give you instructions on how to get the free version back again.

You could also visit:

DVD Spot

And

DVD Aficionado

Those both provide free DVD tracking services.  They're online only (no program to download and run locally).  Depending on your needs, they might be a good alternative.  Obviously most of us would disagree or we'd be on those sites instead, but that's a decision you'll have to make on your own.

WOW! What a bunch of A-holes here.
Intervocative made a living, with Profiler being free. Maybe they are smarter than invelos, on how to do business?

For years, I've used Profiler. I have many, many hours of typing (slow typist) involved, to get all my dvds listed online. Today I added a few, and it won't let me upload to the online page, without paying. So, all those many hours I've spent typing info, turns out to be for nothing!

I have a bad back, and can't work, so I have no income. Been out of work for two years. We barely make it on wife's income. Most of my dvds have come from pawn shops, and cost $4 each. They have become few, and far between. That's why I'm just now finding out about this pay crap. invelos is like everybody else. They want our last pennies, just to put a list online, to have an easy way of keeping up with it. Greedy SOBs. People get used to something, and here comes a new company, and jerks the rug out from under your feet, and upsets your world, because they suddenly want you to pay for something that was free for years! They find a popular software, buy out the company, and then screw everybody that uses that software! Well, invelos will never get a penny from me! Even if I could afford it, they wouldn't get it from me, because of their greedy business practices. I guess I'll learn to live without Profiler. invelos can kiss my ass!

If all you a-holes (ones talking crap to OP), are willing to suddenly pay for something that's always been free, you deserve to be screwed out of your money! I hope you all become broke, and suddenly have to pay for every little thing. When you can no longer do what you've been doing for years, because you can't afford it, I want you to know I'll be laughing at you, because you'll realize how it feels. Now, wipe the brown spot off your nose, from having it so far up invelos' ass..............

Profiler has NEVER been free. The ceiling to but used to be a whole lot higher that it is now and that is a good decision. With all due respect to your injuries and disabilities,Ken also has a family to feed, do you propose he take ANOTHER job which he used to do, just in order that you can have FREE. I think not, sir.
Your attituude is very selfish and simply doesn't fly.

Who knows if came with a better attitude, perhaps Ken or even one of us users might have been willing to assist, given your circumstances. What a shame.

Oh BTW, my very generous calculation is that IVS before the breakup generated no more than $2,000,000 over 7 years, split 6 ways, you call that a living. A new business model was desperately needed.

I have to agree with Skip here.  Just because you had a bad luck delt to you does not entitle you to have everything in life handed to you on a silver platter.  There are other free alternatives you can look into.

BTW - for $10 plus shipping, you can pick up a CueCat (barcode scanner) on eBay which will save you hours of typing the UPC's.

Intervocative was composed of 6 people.  One of those people were responsible for the bulk of DVD Profiler.  Lots of crap happened and that one person decided to buy out the other 5 partners and start his own company.

So there's not really a new company involved here.  Sure it has a new name, but it's the same person behind the scenes.

As for the rest, you're in an unfortunate situation.  But you can't really fault the guy who created the program (his only job by the way) from expecting fair payment for his hard work.  That's not really fair to him or his family.

Emoxley,

I would recommend checking out the background of Intervocative and Invelos, because basically you are blaiming a guy for being a worse businessman (and a worse person I guess) than... ehh... than himself.

As with anything, as soon as changes are made (like what is available for free, and what requires registration) some people are going to be opset. Some things need to change now and then, and every time some people will be impacted negatively - this time it was unfortunately you.

As far as I can read it, you do not estimate DVD Profiler to be worth 8 DVD's (which is basically what we are talking at $4 each) - which is fair enough, only you can make that decission - just like it is only the programmer who can make the call on how much time and money he want to spend providing you a free service.
Regards
Lars

So, wanting one thing, to stay as it was, makes me want everything served to me on a silver platter? I'd say you were the biggest a-hole of them all!

I've never talked to people online like this before, but you guys brought out the worst in me. I'm not sorry for saying it. I'm sorry for having to say it. And your attention span must not be any longer than a couple of minutes? Remember me saying I have no income? So, how can I pay $10 for a bar code scanner, AND $30 for the software? You need help worse than me!

If you have felt the need to come onto these forums  and express yourself you are clearly upset about losing this software.  So if you miss it that much why not just put off buying a few dvds and pay for the software?

What it comes down to is, is this software worth $30?  The answer, I think, yes definitely.

Your entire post screamed "GIVE IT TO ME FREE!" and not in a nice tone either.  You'll have to excuse us if we chastise you for it.  BTW, I do have to pay for every little thing.

The same guy behind version 2.x is behind 3.x.  As far as you're concerned, Invelos is Intervocative.

Comparing the free version to the current version is like comparing a Chevet to a Camero.  Version 3.1 is SO much better.  Even so, version 2 was good enough that I paid for my subscription which is still valid for version 3.

How many software aps do you know of that has a life-time registration fee and only cost $30 for that matter?  This package could have cost twice as much and I would still gladly put forth that value.

But all said and done, I'm done with you.  I even tried to be nice and offer a low-cost alternative to help protect your back if and when your can afford it only to have it thrown back in my face.

Good day to you, Sir.

emoxley,

I can understand you being upset about change but coming to a forum and calling people names is inappropriate and unnecessary.

You might have been better served to explain your situation and request help in finding another online database; but because of your rudeness I am reluctant to help you in any way.

I have always been of the mindset to help others though and so will offer you a suggestion; I always liked the free program http://www.dvdaf.com

You didn't HAVE to say anything, you made a choice to say it. If you have such a hard time then why are you here, you are putting up such a fuss, you clearly don't have the money to even spend on a hobby let alone this one, so why?  I find your whining to be very offensive, as you expect to be able to get things for free because of your circunstances, do you go into Wal-Mart and whine at them to get free DVDs. You are a very selfish person, Ken has a family to feed and Profiler is now his only job and you WOULD deprive him of the ability to feed his family over YOUR desire for free software, for a hobby you apparently can't afford to support. Disgusting!!!
