| Posted: | | | | Great! Thanks for the update.
I actually came to this thread to report a bug:
I just added a couple of movies to my database and had reason to update one of my tabs. The only ways of doing this that I'm aware of are:
1. Turn on the auto-refresh 2. Click on Edit Tabs and then exit back out to the main app.
Because I've resized the columns to my liking, and editing the tabs returns the columns to the default size, I chose option #1 above.
While doing so refreshed the tab it entered a never-ending loop where it kept refreshing the tab over and over and over. I tried turning the auto-refresh off but I was never allowed control of the program again. There was not even enough time between the refreshes to allow me to go to a different tab or back to the collection list.

| Posted: | | | | Here's a couple more suggestions:
1. Related to my bug report above: How about a button to refresh the listing once? Without turning on auto-refresh that is.
2. Is it possible to make it remember the column width settings after editing the tabs?
Thanks again.

KM Yes, I've seen the loop happen, but it didn't go forever - and it was only when both auto-refresh and auto-select are both on. I'm sure you can understand why it happens (the collection changes, which causes the tab to change which causes the collection to change, etc.). I just need to figure if there is a way for the program to notice and stop it. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! Yeah, I did have both on. And maybe I should clarify "forever." I only waited maybe 2 minutes before ctrl-alt-del:ing and shutting down DVD Profiler. If it happens again I'll wait a while longer. KM I think the length of time is proportional to the size of the collection. Anyway, I have a couple of ideas that I will experiment with that will stop the loop after one cycle. I am also planning to capture and restore column widths, and maybe also the relative position. Thanks for hanging in there ... | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Might not be compatible with prior version(s), and you may have to redefine your tabs and filters. In any case, please uninstall the prior version(s) by running unins000.exe in the \plugins\MyTabs folder. Start DVDProfiler and if there is a MyTabs window showing, delete it. Then exit DVDPro and install the new version.
New features:
- Filter by Studios. Condition must be Contains or Not Contain. Value must be an exact match to studio name (case sensitive).
- Filter by BoxSet. Condition must be Contains or Not Contain. Value must be an exact match with Profile ID (including locality if present) of included child profiles or the parent profile.
- Memory of column widths across sessions
- Ability to toggle the display of any or all columns in a tab. Remembered across sessions.
- Three custom columns now supported.
At this point I have no plans for any more major functionality. I will upgrade To Release 1.0 after the Betas stabilize.
Still no feedback on custom "Double Click". It will remain unimplemented until / unless somebody makes a case for what the options should be.
BTW can you let me know if your tabs/filters got preserved? My test environement is so complex now that I cannot be sure that I have tested a clean scenario that matches what users are experiencing. It has mostly to do with the incredibly sticky persistence of the Microsoft "settings" feature that I am using to preserve stuff across sessions. | | | Thanks for your support. Added requested ability to manually refresh tab: View -> Refresh
Added special Manual Profiles tracker tabs (I plan to use this one a lot myself)
- you can have as many as you want - each one has its own filter - automatically tracks all Profile IDs that either start with "M" OR have a TAG = "Manual Profile" - Added MyTabs -> Add Manual Profile for easy add/edit of a new manual profile. Error checking is performed to ensure a valid unique Profile ID. "M" is automatically pre-pended and a TAG = "Manual Profile" is added. This allows you to edit the profile with additional child tags that can be filtered on.
Since I've gotten no feedback on my question, I have disabled the customizable double click and hard-wired it to Edit Profile, which is actually pretty useful.
As usual, uninstall the prior version first. All tabs and filters from 0.83 should be preserved.
Now to start working on performance, until / unless this plugin gets supreceeded by functionality in the base product. I hope I have provided some interesting ideas for consideration. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | MyTabs Beta 0.86 (Fixed "Equal To" bug in 0.85, also missing "AND NOT" in dropdown)
Removed the redundant Collection Type filter from the supplemental filter
Using the same space on the form, I implemented a crude "any field" search that will search on the text representation of just about every DVDPro field except cast / crew (it could be added).
When I say "crude", it is because (1) it is a totally brute-force text search - roughly equivalent to searching XML strings - but faster where possible.
Also, I have not tailored the search fields to the data type. So, you can select "Between" for a field that normally yields only true or false. So don't do it - use Equal To or Contains instead.
Date fields are not always correctly handled - I will fix this - but there are some nice surprises. For example since production year is just a number, the Between operator works just fine. And the way I've implemented Between, you should get "less than or equal to" if you only put a high value, and "greater than or equal to" if you only supply a low value.
All that aside, I found that so much of it works, that I would pass it along to you - after all, this is still Beta code, and I don't think there is much use of it anyway. The filter and tabs are now actually very powerful, albeit not speeding bullets.
If anybody sees something they want/need, I can put it in, otherwise I will continue on my own whims.
Some things you can do:
- Run a quick check on whether certain fields are empty (use Is Non-Empty, or AND NOT Is Non-Empty) - Tabulate the contents of box sets - Get the disc count for all profiles - Get all profiles where number of discs = 0 (Equal To) - Separate Tabs for DVD or HD or Blu-Ray - Tabs by Rating
If you want to do something that causes an error, incorrect data or is not available, let me know. Edit: already fixed some bugs - use 0.86 instead of 0.85. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | Just curious - any need to upgrade this plugin? By now, I have a few ideas for improvements. Also, I would appreciate if anybody has any other ideas. I have gotten a couple of request to make it "non-.NET", which I guess I would consider unless (a) a more experienced programmer wants to do it (I say - please do!), or (b) Ken plans functionality in the main program that would obviate MyTabs. Waiting for any feedback ... (including bug reports) | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | I used this plugin for a while but I felt it slowed down the main app too much and uninstalled it. From what I can remember it did what it needed to in terms of functionality, but the speed is the one area where an improvement would definitely be a boon.

KM Agreed - that is the one item that prevents my consistent use of it. I'll take a stab at it. Thanks for the feedback. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. |

| Posted: | | | | Ok, MyTabs 0.90 available
Function - "Between" operator now works for dates fields such as purchase date
Performance - some minor tweaks - changed filter options such that if tab filter is enabled, but the "main" section is disabled, MyTabs filtering starts with the filtered subset of the main collection. This should vastly improve the speed of any search that the main program can handle. Then you just run a little MyTabs filter on top for the bit that you can't do with the main program filters today.
To use the results (print, report, etc.), just use the flag copy menu to copy tab flags back to the main collection. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | I see it's been a while since this thread has been updated, so not sure if anyone is still checking it or not.
I just recently installed this plugin and have a quick, simple question:
How do I use it?
I can't seem to figure out how to rename the tabs anywhere. They default to tabname (594) without any way to change the name to, say, 'Watched', or 'Owned'. Is this possible? Beyond that I haven't even started to try customizing the tabs themselves. Is there a How-To anywhere for this plugin?
Cheers, WC |

| Posted: | | | | At the top of the MyTabs window there'll be a button marked "Edit Tabs", that'll open a list of tabs you've created. Click once on the name you want to edit, wait a moment, then click on it again. Don't double-click as that does nothing. If you do it slowly enough, it should open the name up for editing. |

| Posted: | | | | Goodness, I didn't realize anybody was using it. I know that it is slow and not so easy to use. I have lots of plans on the drawing board for speed and usability improvements that will not be possible until the new 3.5 release of Profiler, unless we get custom tabs built in - that would be nice. But if not, I will update this or build a new one that will be much better.
Sorry about the lack of documentation. Many thanks to northbloke for helping out. Perhaps he will continue to guide you. I will try to address any issues or bugs that you guys find.
(Edit: In fact the version I am using is 0.92. I got distracted and never released it. I think it has performance improvements over 0.90. As soon as I figure it out, I'll release it.) | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!!
