I recently had this with Bones Season 3 which included the first few episodes of Season 4 as a bonus.

The parent (which was copied from a US release) contained the bonus episodes....they were even numbered (incorrectly) as part of season 3.

When I created the child profiles I correctly listed these episodes as bonus episodes on their own bonus disc.

Since the Season 4 DVD set is not going to include those episodes, I wouldn't classify them as a bonus. The blu-ray Season 4 will have them, but that's because it's the first blu-ray of the series.

Also, the episodes were made as part of Season 3, and their production codes reflect that.

Actually the DVD Case itself calls them Bonus Episodes...

As such per the way the rules are written now they shouldn't be profiled (Cast or Crew) for the online database.

I am going to have to disagree with my furry friend on this one.  For TV series DVDs, a bonus episode is the same as a bonus feature film for a film DVD.  I don't own a lot of TV sets, so my opinion isn't based on a lot of experience in this area.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.

I know we've had this discussion before, but for now as the rules are written the credits cannot be added to the database, since they are located under bonus features. Do I think they should be added? Yes, but only locally for the time being.

But once again I will ask you how may this be possible since bonus movies are done with the disc id of that disc? Most of the time (coming from experience) the Disc ID is already used for child profiles of the series you bought so you won't have a disc ID to give to these bonus episodes as they don't usually have their own disc.

What if the Bonus film was on the same disc with the main feature? Would you not use a divider to profile it?

The only way to create a profile for a bonus movie per the rules is child profile by UPC or Disc ID. So no you wouldn't as the bonus movie is still considered a bonus so no cast or crew on main profile per Rules... But in the case of movies it really don't matter as the main profile would be by UPC then you can use the disc ID of the disc itself for the bonus movie (usually at least).

In the case of the TV Series you have...

Main Profile (UPC)
- Child Profiles (Disc ID)
-- Bonus Episodes (Disc ID if they have their own disc... if Not just not doable as far as I can see)

I go by the DVD menu if it is under bonus features or just in the main menu?  If in the main menu then I profile them.

Luckly in the case of Bones, all the bonus episodes are on their own DVD "Disc ID" so it should be possible to profile them.

It could, of course, be done as a manual profile--just not contributable.  I profile lots of bonus documentaries, etc. in my collection.

I would go by the menu before I would the case too... It has been a while since I watched this set... not sure if it is listed under bonus material on the menu or not.

Sure... you could do all you want with manual profiles... heck if you wanted to you could profile each episode of every set you own manually. But they are of course talking to be able to contribute it. That I don't know how they could do on most cases (in my experience).

As I said, I don't have a lot of experience in this area so I am speaking in theory.  If the bonus episodes are not on their own disk, a solution will have to be supplied by Ken.  If, as in this case, they are on their own disk, I would do it the same as a bonus feature film.

I recently contributed a profile which (cover information) had 4 episodes of a TV-series, and 2 "bonus" episodes of the same season of the same series. On the disc they were all handled the same.
Here "bonus" was a sort of marketing statement, like an extra large box of washing powder with partially different coloring and "30% extra", but all the same powder.

I contributed all 6 episodes and received no comments.

Oh I agree... if the bonus episodes has it's own disc there is no problem. The problem is when there is none... then you can't put the cast/crew or overview for that matter into the profile since it is not allowed per rules to have bonus info in those sections.  At least not without a rules change.

Just because you received no comments and it went through does not necessarily means it is per the rules. Not only do we see things slip in all the time... Ken and Gerri has made the comment that they will let wrong stuff slip in at times if it is part of a larger update to make it worth it. So just because something is in the database is no indication that it is allowed.

I totally agree with your interpretation. What amazes me is to see how many people read rules to the letter without trying to use their brain as they generally do in normal life...
