| Posted: | | | | Currently around 1090. Not much increase the last few months (as I already own all the good movies that I want)...I started to replace the collection with HD-DVDs not long ago and including the 10 newly released movies a year which are worthy to be in my collection I won't get far ahead. But that's ok. Quality is much more important than quantity . |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting bruceybee: Quote: The only problem with having a lot of DVDs is storage. I am at 1192 and I started removing them from their orignal case and put them in cases that hold 1000 dvd's from http://www.meritline.com/1050-aluminium-case-079.html. These cases are great. They say they hold 1050 but only hold 1000. I ran out of book shelf space around 600, then I found these. I try to buy only the single disc version so that I can remove from dvd case and put in the new case. The have numbered seelves and it is much easier to find a movie when you want to watch it. | | | Last edited: by simeonpro |

| Posted: | | | | 1035 DVD's but i've been slowing down for quite some time now. It's just hard to find something I like and value enough to purchase nowadays. Most of the movies I own have been played 2 times or more. (after a year orso I forgot most of the plot so I can repeat it and it will be fun all over again :-)). | | | My DVD's

| Posted: | | | | Hi all
I have been a long time user of the old site (several years) and now I have uploaded my collection - I hope you can see it - I have loved looking at all the movies I would like to get and someday maybe I will. |

| Posted: | | | | I too have over 1000 DVD's...but I don't know why everyone has to brag about it, like it's a contest or something. I used to be bad at buying DVD's...I'd buy at least 10 per week, every week for a few years. Then I sat back and thought what a f%^&*&(*n waste of money. To this day I still have about 250 that I have either never seen before or have seen before but not since I bought it. What a waste. Then I see the 2000+ and 3000+ clubs...don't even get me started on them. Ever since I have slowed down, to maybe 5 per month or so, the ones I really want, I've felt better about myself, and not wasting so much money. I know my family likes it. I used to view random online collections, and see what kind of movies people are buying. Lots of the big collections have so many crap movies that nobody on this earth could even remotely be considered to watch on their list, and I have to wonder, are people getting so obsessed with bumping their collection numbers up that they have to buy every single DVD they see regardless of how good it is. Either that or people are just searching all the DVD's and adding them even though they don't buy them just to make themselves look like they own a lot. I just sit back and wonder, this used to be a program just to keep your personal movie list on and so family members can see what you own online...since when did it become a huge contest! Unreal! |

I don't think there's any real contest going on, it's just that DVDP is a collecting program and the number of items is pushed as a major factor, just like in any collection. I don't feel competitive or jealous of the folks with triple the size of my collection. Building a DVD collection is an (expensive) way to express something about yourself, and DVDP is a great way to frame this list of your selections so others can see it on the net (otherwise they'd have to come to your house and browse your shelves). I don't regret any of my purchases, but I think I am slowing down. I think I am close to having a lot of my "essentials" (I doubt I will ever fully complete my ultimate DVD collection, but nice to be close). |

| Posted: | | | | I do have a lot of "crap" movies in my collection - and I do have about 50 that I have not watched yet.
The reason is that I visit a lot of pawn shops and get MOST of these movies at $3.00 Or less !! I shop movie galley, blockbuster etc etc and get movies when they are 4 for 20 - or - 5 for 20. I have only purchased maybe 15 movies NEW - out of all my purchases I have only had TWO that I could not watch.
How can I pass up a movie for 3 bucks - I can't - so sometimes I get a real stinker - so what many many times I get a movie I never heard of and it is AWESOME ! - now you may ask why don't I sell off the stinkers - well I would , but I am afraid I would buy them again (I have a bad memory).
I do not regret spending one single penny on my DVDs - I have 4 grown children and 2 brothers and 2 sisters who borrow movies from me all the time - I also have 6-8 close friends who borrow movies from me - my collection allows all these people to experience many many movies that they normally would not have the opportunity to watch and it costs them nothing !!
stop buying ?? - NEVER |
