How bout no one will know where to find it if it's not here or linked by Invelos somewhere on this site. Any person coming to the forum to search for or add a feature request would have to not only be aware of your project but would have to know where to find it.

You also suggested an alternate approach, which I invited you to go ahead and implement.

Actually, that was Kulju.  I already maintain a thread on this site and don't have the time for another one.

Oops! Sorry 'bout that!

You claim that you are here to 'improve the program'.  If that is the case, you should heed the advice given to you.  Quite a few of us have been doing this for a while and we know what does and does not work.  Off-site pages do not work as Ken, for whatever reason, does not visit them.

You are, of course, welcome to continue doing it your way.  If, however, your goal is to help improve the program, why would you put your efforts into something that Ken probably won't look at?

Improving the program is one of my goals, of course.
The Abstracts has a narrower goal: an aid to all Feature Requests Forum users, which they -- and you -- are free to use, or not, at their whim.

I will require a lot more convincing to put it on a Forum. The atmosphere is just too rowdy there.
And by convincing, I don't mean threats; I mean reasons why it would be better there. Why it would be more useful there.

Whether Ken decides to look at it or not is only a part of the issue.

Is there a place for it on Invelos that is not on a forum?

ROFLMAO
I can't stand it.

So..let's see if i get this straight. You have been offered MUCH good advice and constructive criticism, which you take offense at because you believe that only you have the answers .

Secondly, despite the fact that we have an appreciation of the work that you put into your abstracts, and we have explained to you that we have BTDT and it doesn't work, but of course since you have ALL the answers that is irrelevant.

You now insult this these forums, and demonstrate that you want them on YOUR site where YOU have control...hmmmm I think we can add control freak to the list.

<shakes my head> You beat anything I have seen in these Forums from any user in over 8 years.

Good luck with that, BTW. Ken can make it a sticky which you can edit, but it will be a part of the Forum. And Ken is not likely to relinquish control over ANY PART of this site to you or any other user.

You people are always talking about profiler users when you should be talking forum participants,
readers and contributors.

Shades of today’s journalists, they are always stating that everybody or nobody does this or that,
Hell they didn’t ask me or anybody I know about their quotes.

From most of the forum entries I’ve read, most profile owners haven’t read the help files that came
with the program, the sire or the contribution rules.

Just what are the actual percentage profile owners who are regular forum participants?
Of those just what is the actual percentage profile owners who desire changes to the profiler,
these feature requests? Not to say that some of the 0feature requests would be nice to have.

I would suggest that allot of forum readers like me have determined that after a few pages of a forum
string most turn into nothing more than a gigantic pissing contests.

In general I find my time better spent watching my DVDs and
if I was much younger I would not even be buying DVDs.

Ah, you noticed that ??

That would not be the first time a useful file would not be hosted by Invelos. We share our headshots databases outside of this site, and it works perfectly...

Surfeur don't mix things up. Your post suggests that the headshots were posted outside of invelos.com. because of some derailed dissent. This is wrong.
It got posted outside of Invelos for copyright reasons.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

So true. And reason why we do not see many of the former regulars here while scaring away new users

Not quite the same thing as there's a thread, on-site, which links are posted in whenever there's a new headshot collection people want to share. If there was an entire site outside Invelos that you had to visit in order to see these updates, then I think it would befall the same fate as I unfortunately think will befall this tool.

This tool may also have a link in a specifical thread. I really think it's quite the same.

My post suggests nothing.
In fact, when I want to say something, I say it, and rarely try to give a hidden sense to my words. You, specially, should know that

What I wanted to say, it is that headshots are outside, and it works fine. Whatever the reason for which they are outside.

If the atmosphere was not rowdy, I don't think I would have got a red arrow for that...

Good point.
But how will someone know where to find it if it's here and not pointed to by a special link by Invelos?
And, of course, if it is linked by Invelos, the link could easily be to an off-site location. On- or off-site makes no difference in that regard.

re be aware of and knowing where to find it: How, exactly, would putting in a forum solve that problem? It would be as easily lost as any other forum message, no?

Because Ken usually (at a request) makes the thread a sticky thread so it stays at the top of the forum... so it does not get lost within the rest of the forum messages.

As both Addicted & myself pointed out Ken can sticky (or pin) threads, which is why I suggested you PM him with the idea.

Nick:

I too suggested the sticky route, but unfortunately while dav4is would be able  to edit his posts at will as he can do anyway, he would not be able to CONTROL any of the remaining content of the sticky which seems to be his desire. It is sad but that seems to be his desire.

So what was the sense of your posting in this context then?
The reason for the "Headshot Database" being off-site have nothing in common with the reasons that dav4is named for keeping his project off-site.

You're correct. Besides, isn't the Headshot Master Database thread a Sticky Thread so it stays on top of the forum threads? The links to the offsite resourses for the Headshot Database are in the Sticky Thread...that's why it works.

Edit: Just checked and it doesn't look like it's a Sticky Thread...just very popular I guess.
