db repair does not fix my problem. Am I incorrect in expecting to be able to continue using 3.1.1 1171 with the web database?

Something has changed for me recently. Now when I attempt to add to Collection with 3.1.1 1171, I get a message indicating that I should upgrade in order to take advantage of the new data formats, and then the program proceeded correctly from there, allowing me to add a couple of profiles - but not all that I wanted to.  Anyway, now the program is doing something that makes sense to me, and I can make my own decision about when to upgrade, which will be soon, - as it is clear that the old version is no longer fully supported.
Thanks for your support.

Odd? XP size shown with search feature: 20.466 kB. If you have the time and when you have a fast stable connection, then rename those 2 files:
OnlineList.dod -> OnlineList.dod.old
OnlineListSel.dod -> OnlineListSel.dod.old

DVD Profiler should reload those from Invelos.

Tried that; the new version is 19.9 MB again (20,465 kB), and when I go to add discs it still wants to add the entire list of 13.65 MB.  It doesn't seem to remember it already did that.  Very annoying indeed.

Reinstall seems to have fixed it.  Only 56 KB was downloaded for the updated profiles instead of 13.65 MB.  Fingers crossed that this handles it.....

Darn it, the problem is back.  And reinstalling isn't helping.  Grrrr.

Maybe I'll try the 3.5.1 beta and see if that helps....

You don't have a configuration reset tool running, do you?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I don't think I do.....what would a configuration reset tool look like or be called?

When I update profiles, as opposed to add to collection, it properly just downloads the 40KB+/- size portion of updates.  It's only when I go to add to collection that it wants to download the entire 13+MB database.

This is not normal?
Time to look for other solutions? I would advice:
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
Spybot - Search & Destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html
these are free for personal use. See if that gives any result? Something is meesing up that database?

Already using AVG for viruses and AdAware for spyware.

problem: what is different on your system/usage compared to other users where it is not doing that?
Operating System? latest updates?
Used only 1 computer/ over network on same database?
backup / or synchronisation software?
Memory? Ram? Used on the harddisc('s)
CPU?
simultaneous use of other big programmes?
plug-in?
...?
5585 profiles? and how many in ordered and wishlist? Can you try the same database out on another computer?

Operating System: Windows XP
Latest Update: Service Pack 3 + additional automatic updates through 12/18/08
Only one computer.
Backup software: Nero BackItUp
Memory: RAM 3 GB DDR2
CPU AMD Athlon 64X2 Core Dual Processor 4200+
Same behavior whether anything else is running or not.
The only  plugins I'm using with DVDP are Simple Statistics and the Awards plugin (and it was doing this before I added the Awards plugin).
5585 profiles; 1 in ordered (a bogus one to collect headshots), 0 in wishlist.
I can try the database in another computer, but here are the answers for now.
