Title: Blazing Saddles
UPC: IB207EDEE631A5871
Year: 1974
Director: Mel Brooks
Writer: Mel Brooks (Screenwriter), Norman Steinberg (Screenwriter), Andrew Bergman (Screenwriter), Richard Pryor (Screenwriter), Alan Uger (Screenwriter), Andrew Bergman (Original Material By)
Rating: R
Length: 93 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1, Pan & Scan 1.33:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Mono, French: Dolby Digital: Mono, Spanish: Dolby Digital: Mono, Commentary: Dolby Digital: Mono
Subtitles: English, French, Spanish

Stars:
Cleavon Little as Bart
Gene Wilder as Jim
Slim Pickens as Taggart
Harvey Korman as Hedley Lamarr
Madeline Kahn as Lili Von Shtupp
Mel Brooks as Governor Lepetomane / Indian Chief

Plot:
The railroad's bound to run right through the sleepy town of Rock Ridge. Land there will be worth a fortune – but the townfolk already own their own land. How do you drive them out? Send in the roughest, toughest, meanest, leanest gang you've got...and appoint a new sheriff you figure will last about 24 hours.

But that's not really the plot of 'Blazing Saddles', just the pretext. Once Mel Brooks' lunatic film – many call it his best – gets under way, logic is lost in a blizzard of gags, jokes, quips, puns, howlers, growlers and outrageous assaults upon good taste – or any taste at all.

Cleavon Little as the new lawman. Gene Wilder as the wacko Waco Kid, Brooks himself as dimwitted politico and Madeline Kahn in her Marlene Dietrich sendup that earned an Academy Award® nomination† all give this sagebrush saga their lunatic best. And when 'Blazing Saddles' can't contain itself at the finale, it just proves the Old West will never be the same!

† 1974: Best Supporting Actress

My Thoughts:

Of all the Mel Brooks movies, 'Young Frankenstein' and this one 'Blazing Saddles' are the best (possibly adding 'Robin Hood: Men in Tights' and 'Spaceballs').
This movie seemed to break the mold and allowed Mel Brooks to expand his vision in his next movies.
The cast is superb with Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Harvey Corman and the wonderful Madeline Kahn.  The jokes range from the very sophisticated "That's Hedlly" to the slapstick of the campfire scene.
Throughout this movie shines.
I would suggest that anyone .. possibly over the age of 13 .. watch this movie and be ready to laugh throughout.

My Rating:
I give this 4.5 of 5 stars

Title: The Blob
UPC: 043396059238
Year: 1988
Director: Chuck Russell
Writer: Chuck Russell (Screenwriter), Frank Darabont (Screenwriter), Irving H. Millgate (Original Material By)
Rating: R
Length: 95 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, French: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, Spanish: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Portuguese: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo
Subtitles: Chinese, English, French, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai

Stars:
Shawnee Smith as Meg Penny
Donovan Leitch as Paul Taylor
Ricky Paull Goldin as Scott Jeskey
Kevin Dillon as Brian Flagg
Billy Beck as Can Man
Jeffrey DeMunn as Sheriff Herb Geller

Plot:
THE BLOB has returned in this horrific tale about a vile, malignant life-form that crashes to earth in a cozy, rural American town called Arborville. Untroubled by conscience or intellect, the Blob does only one thing – and it does it well. It eats anything and everything that moves: men, women, children. And tonight it wants to swallow Arborville whole. The original version of THE BLOB thrilled and terrified audiences back in the 1950s. Now the oozing, gooey killer is back with a whole new high-tech look. What was once only suggested now comes to life in this visually gut-wrenching thriller in the tradition of such classic remakes as The Thing and The Fly.

My Thoughts:
This is the 1988 version of 'The Blob' staring Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith. Of course the original 'The Blob' (1958) starred Steve McQueen, before he became a force of nature, and this version follows the same basic story line. Kevin Dillon is a 'rebel without a cause' type and Shawnee Smith is the do gooder who gets connected with Kevin because of the Blob. Some of the effects are good and some of the effects are ... well .. bad. But over all, for a B movie this isn't a half bad remake. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes light fare sci-fi movies. This is at best a 3of5 as I would watch it again. If for nothing else but to watch Shawnee run from the Blob .. only to fall down.

Rating: Rated R : Nudity, Disturbing Images, Language and Brief Sexuality
Length: 103 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.40:1

Confused, terrified and feeling still very much alive, Anna doesn't believe she's dead, despite the funeral director's reassurances that she is merely in transition to the afterlife. Eliot convinces her he has the ability to communicate with the dead and is the only one who can help her. Trapped inside the funeral home, with nobody to turn to except Eliot, Anna is forced to face her deepest fears and accept her own death. But Anna's grief-stricken boyfriend Paul (Justin Long) still can't shake the nagging suspicion that Eliot isn't what he appears to be. As the funeral nears, Paul gets closer to unlocking the disturbing truth, but it could be too late; Anna may have already begun to cross over to the other side.

My Thoughts:
After.Life staring Christina Ricci, Justin Long and Liam Neeson. I didn't have any expectations going into this one. It was a suggestion I had gotten and so decided to try it. Man I am so happy that I did. This works on a couple different levels like 'The Sixth Sense' did without being a rip off. You have to watch intently to get the clues .. don't turn away you will miss something. The performances for Christina Ricci and Liam Neeson are very good. Neeson is so creepy that it keeps you from knowing just what is going on. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes thrillers and are not shy on the subject of death. I give this 3.5of5 stars

My Thoughts:
Well, what can i say? Me that would never watch twilight at all.. But i'm glad i changed my mind. I really like what they have done with the movies. (i havent read any of the books, so i dont know that) but its a good plot\story about the vampires that are in "war" with the werewolfs. And in all that a normal human girl falls in love with a vampire. Its a beautiful lovestory behind it all. And i like how they keep devolpe the story, without doing it to fast. And the nature in some of the scenes are just breath taking! Just beautiful. But there was a few things in this movie i didnt like that much, a few things i thought they could have done a bit different. But for eaches one i guess. But still a good story, and still good movies. Now i'm looking forward to see the number 4 soon.
And i still Kristen Stewart is kinda hot! (she's getting more hot by the movie!)

What do you guys think of the Twilight saga? (and for the people who have read the books too. Which did you like the best. Books\Movies?)

I only seen the first one so far. Not a favorite vampire movie... but not bad either.

Spoiler:  (Select to view)
The main problem I had with the movie is I couldn't get past the vampires sparkling in the sunlight.

One of these days I do have to see the rest of the series though.

Yeah, i didnt really get that part either. (the spoiler one)  but i've been guarded when it comes to vampires etc. In movies tv\show, its so easy to make a failure. But this saga have suprised me alot.
And the movies just keeping better. From the first movie, they just getting better after that one.
So it will be interesting to see how things will develope.

(And i have decided to give Buffy a try too. See how that show is aswell. Since i liked Twilight as much as i did)

I have been lucky enough to see all of them and I have to say that i like them very much.
I think you can really see a growth in the actors (characters), the writing and direction/production throughout the series .. which makes it great fun.
I am really looking forward to the final movie "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" which is supposed to be released in November 2012.

I couldnt agree more dtsig! But havent seen the 'Breaking Dwan Part 1' yet. Hopefully i will get around to do it this week

I dont know why, but for some reason i compare Kristen Stewart somewhat to Emma Watson (Hermine in Harry Potter saga)

And i have to say, from what i've seen so far of Kristen Stewart. I think she is the best actress.

Buffy is great fun too.  There are times that they created these big arcs in the story lines and these never seen to be pulled off (in almost any series).  I think that the first 3 years are my favorite, after that it sometimes got on the bizarre (or more bizarre).

But over all it seemed like all the actors (characters) and writing just got better and better.  And of course that is what one would expect from Josh Whedon .. just imagine how great Firefly might have become.

Hm, it will be interesting to watch. Heard alot about Buffy aswell.. And i've always been a bit interested in Sarah. M. Gellar. Seen her in a few other stuff that she's done. But i've heard it was in Buffy she got her break. So will be interesting indeed.

I don't know if you saw the movie 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' with Kristy Swanson and Donald Sutherland, Paul Reubens, Rutger Hauer but if you did just keep in mind that the tv show isn't the same as the movie.  There is a Buffy and she is a vampire hunter .. other than that Josh Whedon went his own way creating a 'scooby doo' group for Buffy.  I think it stands up well on its own.  Better than the movie.

As for Sarah Michelle Gellar, she was great in a romantic comedy called 'Simply Irrisitable' which co-stars Sean Patrick Flanery.  This is also a very good movie if you get a chance to see it.  Light fare but good.

Title: The Pink Panther
UPC: 027616905949
Year: 1963
Director: Blake Edwards
Writer: Maurice Richlin (Screenwriter), Blake Edwards (Screenwriter)
Rating: NR
Length: 115 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: Mono, French: Dolby Digital: Mono, Spanish: Dolby Digital: Mono, Commentary: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround
Subtitles: English, French, Spanish

Stars:
David Niven as Sir Charles Litton
Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau
Robert Wagner as George Litton
Capucine as Simone Clouseau
Brenda de Banzie as Angela Dunning
Colin Gordon as Tucker

Plot:
Meet Inspector Jacques Clouseau, the bumbling French detective whose career is one gigantic banana peel. Showcasing the comic genius of Peter Sellers, this "delightful caper" (Leonard Maltin) brims with "winning charm" (The Film Daily) and clever slapstick. David Niven, Robert Wagner and Capucine co-star in the sidesplitting film that launched one of the greatest comedy series of all time!

Arriving at an Italian ski resort with a large diamond known as the Pink Panther, Princess Dala (Claudia Cardinale) encounters the suave Sir Charles (Niven), who also happens to be the notorious jewel thief The Phantom. Can Clouseau (Sellers), the clumsiest inspector ever to trip over a case, stop Sir Charles' plot...or will The Phantom steal the "cat" and leave Clouseau holding the bag?

My Thoughts:
With the 1963 'The Pink Panther' we get the brilliant joining of Peter Seller and Blake Edwards. Most definetly the best in the series, with 'A Shot in Dark' a close second, 'The Pink Panther' is riddled with sight and speach gags. Also, this movie holds up extremely well with the passing of time (almost 50 years!). It is simply a brilliant foray into the world of comedy. I enthusiastically recommend this movie for anyone who likes a laugh. 4.5of5 stars

The Buffy movie is really different as was said... but it is fun in a guilty pleasure type of way. More of a comedy horror of course... but I find I watch it pretty often.

Here is the trailer...
