Quote: I agree with widescreen, except "all titles" is dangerous ground, there will always be exceptions.
May I have one exception.... ? Well, the most obvious exception is of course foreign films where you usually want to use the title in the local language as the title for the DVD. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

Let's keep in mind Region 1 would apply for region 1 titles.,, region 2 would apply for region 2 etc. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. On the other hand, almost all packages have a spine (envelopes excepted), and from a quick scan I can't find any that doesn't have a title. Just a suggestion... Felicia's Journey for one off the top of my head. |

I curious on that as well. That's how I would contribute that cover title, per the rules.
Someone else is more than welcome to give that a try. It also has to be said that going strictly by the book will severely mess up searches. I would enter it as "X III" if it were a new profile, but I wouldn't be so eager to make that change in an existing profile. | | | -- Enry |

A rule would have to apply equally to all regions. But yes, there is already an exception in the rules for foreign films, but it tells us to use the copyright notice or film credits, not the credit block. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

OK. What are the reasons, and how could I have found them out myself? Secret knowledge is not that useful. |

| Posted: | | | | Include possessives if the front cover includes them, and if they are verifiably part of the title. If quotes surround the title in the credit block (generally on the back cover), check whether the possessive is within the quotes. In the absence of quotes to verify, check the font size used for the title on the front cover. Generally, possessives which use a significantly smaller font are not part of the title.
I would use this as an suggestion as it is listed as x-men on the back cover |

| Posted: | | | | It was argued that the "X" on the cover is well known to mean "X-Men". But it's really a symbol, how should we translate symbols for the title? You also have Wolverine's claws representing the number 3. He has three claws, this isn't the roman number III.
As symbols, they translate to "X-Men 3: The Last Stand".

| Posted: | | | | Could the X on the cover also not be understood to be X-Files? Or even X-15? Just playing devil's advocate to "X" on the cover is well known to mean "X-Men".<shrugs> I think there are few Xs it coud be understood to be. <sigh>

| Posted: | | | | Taken in context with the rest of the cover, it's pretty clear as to what it refers towards. |
