My point is more about other users being helpful to contributors VS being rude and nasty, and some who vote NO on everything of users they don't like. If there is 600,000 copies of this program sold, and only about a 100 users that ever bother to contribute, it tells me that many users here run off anyone just learning how to do it.

I am more inclined to withdraw a contribution altogether after being rudely treated and not re-post, than I am if users are helpful and kind. We all make mistakes, no one is excluded....

If I had come to read this forum before I payed for this program instead of just using the profiler for a few years 1st, I would not have spent my money on it. The fighting back and forth all the time and the stuck up attitudes of some users do more harm to Invelos then anything.

What made me try to learn to build profiles is that for all that time I was just using the profiler and adding DVDs to it, is all the blank profiles I had. If some users would stop rudely running off new contributors, maybe more work would get done. Hell, I had some profiles that were blank from the time I started using the profiler.

I would prefer a "no" vote so that I can reassess my contribution. I always double check and more times than not I have made an error which I will correct. If I disagree I might edit my notes or pm the person to explain my rationale.

There will always be disagreements. I have no problems if there are differences in opinions, that is to be expected.

What I have a problem with is rude behavior either on the forums or in a private message; this is uncalled for and unacceptable...period.

I agree with Romzarah on all counts. Voting no to point out a minor error among a batch of wonderful improvements is okay, of course, but it wouldn't hurt if some people toned their obnoxious attitude down a bit. Certain users seem almost seem to enjoy finding a tiny little questionable detail among an enormous amount of good stuff enabling them to vote "no", and then go on to word their no-vote as if you were the anti-christ. We can take comfort in the fact that Invelos (including the screeners) actually do work from a "significant value" approach, but still, I can imagine that the tone that is used in some of the no-votes might cause people to just give up, and that's a shame.

And indeed: the atmosphere on these forums is not exactly a big selling point for the product. If I were Invelos, I'd take a few pretty drastic measures to turn that around...

i know lots of people who just love to put their sloppy work on the database. An error should be FIXED if you do not fix it and it is a legitimate error then it should be DECLINED PERIOD, Tim I will not encourage slovenly work. I have seen more than enough of it from some very vocal users who do so willfully and knowingly.

You contributed IMDb data to the database and called it "STRICTLY As Credited" in your notes. You have no standing on which to denigrate others.

+1 from me as well.

It's not the "no" vote that I object to (although I know of some users who do), it's the insulting and sometimes offensive comments attached to them. I know the space is limited but that doesn't mean you can't be polite in your comment.

And starting a thread like this is a big NO!

I suspect that you don't like it that I didn't like your Cover Images, most of you submitted was very bad and remains so, even though it might have gotten approved. There were time when you submitted something i could vote yes to, vbut if you think i vote No because it's Rom, NO not even close. The only thing that Rom got was guaranteed that I would scrutinize everything he did, simply because I found so much of his work to be poor in quality. Sorry, bud, I also told you that in PM, i will not bend over and kiss your back just because you Contribute something, nor anyone else's, that is NOT gonna happen.

I have no objection to a NO vote if the users is helpful and NOT rude. Just wanted to make a point on what may be why there is only a few people out of 600,000 users that ever contribute..

For the love of film, please be helpful and not rude... This program will then only get better.

I hope you are referring to insulting comments made by most other users, who come to this thread merely to insult, James, north and others, others who come here simply to pour gasoline on a fire, and furthermore including users such James, north , alien and others who start and partici[ate in threads which are merely an attack on one user, I am shocked that Ken permits such gross  behavior and were I him I would never have permitted such threads in any way.

There you go being rude again, I rest my point. It's just your opinion woola, lots of other users liked my scans. More liked then than not. And you don't know everything about digital darkroom.

Rom:

The arguments that you have had with me, my votes were always base on washed out images, very poor detail, bad colors, I don't believe I ever left you a nasty vote note, I told you privately that i did no think as much of your work as you did, and still don't. You have a very high opinion of what I consider to be 2nd rate images, at best. I offered you suggestions and then you demonstrated just how little you knew when you stated going off about 72DPI images from Online, would I like to see Ken bump this up, oh hell yes, but that's up to him and I can't do anything about it. I amstill willing to help you, as bad as I think your work is, I do think you have promise. So does Taro for that matter.

The one thing that you or any other user can be assured of is that I will not vote blindly (I can make mistakes), I wish the same could be said of some the users who like to criticize me, vote with blinders and then refuse to fix problems when they are caught, and once again the guilty parties in this are the very ones who attack me, each and every time. I find that to be very amusing frankly.

You, on the other hand, have a long-standing prefence for oversaturated images, and, judging from earlier image debates where the community compared images right here in the forums, probably a badly calibrated monitor. Look: it really doesn't matter - images are subjective, and they always will be. If the majority of the voters like them, and the screeners consider them to be a "significant improvement", then you've got nothing to win by maintaining that they're rubbish. Just keep your perfect scans to yourself and be happy with them, like everyone else - it's really not that hard.

Try being helpful to users, Invelos will go a lot farther that way, and we could all enjoy contributing that a lot more.

Running down users for making mistakes only serves to drive them away, wail being helpful will drive users to improve their work and the databases quality.

This entire thread is an embarrassment. You poured the gasoline by starting this thread in the first place. As you say when you post about others, I have not insulted you. I have spoken the truth. You have no room to talk about others. Come down off your pedestal and partner up with the rest of us mere mortals. You're no better than anyone else. If you take that as an insult or an attack, to quote yourself "It's not personal, if take it so, that is your problem."
