When was Metro Goldwyn Mayer without the hyphens added to the allowed list? I'm sure it wasn't on the original lists but there's no post discussing it's addition...

I'm asking because I haven't seen a single MGM movie where the studio was written like that. Whenever there's a text stating the studio name (usually the copyright notice on the last credit "page") it's been "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer". The only place I ever found "Metro Goldwyn Mayer" is the logo, but hey, there aren't a whole lot of movies with the logo but without the copyright notice and secondly I don't think we are using logos as a valid source on how to write a studio's name (see Miramax and others).

So, who added this and on what basis?

It could be either, it depends on the film, both are possibilites. I have only one title that I can think of from them " Battle Beyond the Stars" and the Original release is from New Concorde. That tilte is now 7 years old, it is possible in that time frame that they have changed their name to NCHE. Can you post a back cover to review.

I just checked my wishlist, I have 5 other titles there (4 with Cover Art) ALL of them indicate that New Concorde is the operative Distributor as recently as 2003.

If I recall correctly, Metro has gone 5through a number of name variations over the years from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to Metro Goldwyn Mayer to MGM to currently for the most part Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures. So it will depend on the Screen Credit.

Well, I have MGM movies from every decade so I will probably check them again and take a look at the results. I have doubts about the existence of "Metro Goldwyn Mayer" though or any non-abbreviated form without hyphens.

This is incorrect in Finland. I recently learned that the company Buena Vista Home Entertainment changed its name in february to Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Since the finnish company is just a sidecompany, i would assume this change happened in other countries too?

Absolutely correct, whispering. Sadly I cannot edit this thread now, and the user that can isn't  very conscientious about keeping it current.

james, you may not like it, you made that clear...TOUGH. This was discussed MANY MANY months ago, as soon as the change was discovered, yet you made no update until you got called on it, at least 3 months later. I would have made the update MONTHS ago. As I said you have not been terribly conscientious in maintaining this thread and keeping it up to date. Sorry, i guy, I call it just like I see it. You tender feelings are less my concern than keeping things up to date.

Why are you jumping on James?  The only post he made was one that said 'updated'.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

View Askew would be correct based on the film credits, there is no mention in the film credits of View Askew Productions.
