| Posted: | | | | Quoting Kluge: Quote: In Dogma credits there is:
A View Askew production
The correct studio is View Askew or View Askew Productions (see: www.viewaskew.com)? Definitely "View Askew Productions"!! We don't do studios "as credited" - else this whole thread would be obsolete, wouldn't it? Per the rules, we are after "correct names for studios". The full, correct name is "View Askew Productions", confirmed by the official website Kluge referred to. It doesn't matter that one set of film credits uses something like "a VIEW ASKEW picture" while the next will indeed use the complete name, we always use the complete, correct, "common" if you will, name for studio. That way, tracking studios actually is useful: you'll be able to have DVD Profiler show you a list of all their movies in your collection. Again: if listing them purely "as credited" was the objective, the rules should be amended right way (no more mention of "correct names for studios"), and this thread should be removed. Please let's not go down that road... | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Recently I started some work on some of the Saturday Night Live: Best of __________ and in the credits it lists: Broadway Video SNL Studios NBC Enterprises
Do I just list Broadway Video and Lions Gate Home Entertainment (who released the dvd) and forget about SNL Studios and NBC Enterprises? | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | When is it correct to use Lions Gate Home Entertainment, and when is it correct to use Lions Gate Entertainment? I'm looking mainly at blu-rays of the last few months, which tend to have Lions Gate Entertainment on the packaging and disc idents, but this version of the studio is not mentioned either way in the initial post. |

| Posted: | | | | Looking at Sweeney Todd DBoFS and it says on the opening credits A Parkes/MacDonald Production.
Am I correct in thinking that the correct studio would just be "Parkes/MacDonald". The existing profile lists "Parkes/MacDonald Productions" but I think that came from IMDB.
Oh, and with regards to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment I have quite a few discs where the packaging says "Twentieth....." Are we just using "20th"? | | | Last edited: by eggerty |

You are incorrect in your thinking. 'Parkes/MacDonald Productions' is the actual name of the production company. This is verified by several sources, not just IMDb...see this link. Unless something has changed, we are using '20th' because 'twentieth' doesn't fit. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. The answer for 20th lies in the list at the start of this thread. As for Parkes/<acDonald, I am not certain but i don't believe they rep[resent any kind of Production Company> Although in regards to this Unicus is probably your best resource.

You are incorrect in your thinking. 'Parkes/MacDonald Productions' is the actual name of the production company. This is verified by several sources, not just IMDb...see this link. that's not correct either With credits like that it's no company at all. It just means there are two producers with the surnames Parkes and MacDonald. These kind of credits don't get get profiled in the studio section (another example of this is Cruise/Wagner). It doesn't matter if it's actually a company or not. | | | - Jan |

Quite frankly, I'll accept Unicus' expertise on this and BTW Cruise/Wagner IS a Production Company.

Skip I know, that's why I said it doesn't matter if it actually is a company or not. The fact remains that we cannot know this by looking at the credits and have to handle these as names. | | | - Jan |

| Posted: | | | | On that part I will agree. However, the user asked. Unicus was able to provide docume4ntation to support it and Parkes/MacDonald is a production company, I didn't think it was but... Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

I understand what you are saying, but the rule says, "There is further information about correct names for studios, and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum." While most of these types of credits are simply names, some are shortened versions of the company name. In those cases, the above rule allows us to do the research and enter the 'correct' name. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I feel the current entry is correct: "Producers Sales Organization" is abbreviated in the opening credits, but as the closing credits indeed show the full name, I'm inclined to use that. Note that having abbreviated studio names in the opening credits happens quite frequently, and we always use the correct studio name. |

| Posted: | | | | Help!
I just submitted a corrected profile for the UK Bourne Identity HD DVD where I removed Kennedy/Marshall - Hypnotic from the listed studios and just left it with Universal Pictures.
One kind chap sent me a PM to say that I needed to include the production company.
Now, I've rewatched the credits and it's a Hypnotic and Kennedy/Marshall production. According to the BFI, Hypnotic is "Hypnotic Pictures", an American film production and distribution company. I already know that Kennedy/Marshall is "The Kennedy/Marshall Company".
However, I can't find either in the database already, plus I'm confused as to why we should name production companies in the Studio listing. Frank Marshall is already listed as a producer so why should I credit his company as a studio?
I'm confused,
