| Posted: | | | | Well, for a good friend of mine I had to create an account for this site, and after what happened to him and what I have to do now the same ignorants (not to use worse words for such primitive individuals) will delete my account as soon as possible. But after these actions only to demonstrate power when people don't find the right words to handle a discussion or they are not satisfied with the discussion itself, I am sure that I never want to be part of a site with such an extraordinary abuse of power! This abuse will quite sure this post fast enough, that nobod is able to read it. So let's make it short. Some of you might have seen this picture here on the site: That means the account is no more allowed to contributed. And this is the accound of a good friend of mine I know for years. So I totally believe him. And his numbers here tell a different story! A man who does at least 30 contributions every day for at least 2 years now - and with only 4 or 5 exceptions all of them were released - is indicted for violating the rules? Is this the appreciation of the community for a man who spents hours every day to make data better? I don't know what happened behind the scenes or anywhere in this confusing jungle of a forum, but the picture above is definitely a lie! Or can more than 10.000 released contributions of this man prove the opposit? And if it is the second line, according to "vote stuffing" (what ever that means), he told me that he has vote not even 10 times anywhere on this site - in the whole time he is part of this community! Not only that! He couldn't send me another screenshot for the second fact as he is not able to reach the respective site again, but on another site your community told him that this ban will last for 24 hours, if it is planned for longer he will recieve a message from an adiministrator. Neither the one thing happened nor the other. So what's wrong on this site? Do you like to treat users so badly which rip their a** off to make your data better? And, if you are this admin guy who has banned my friend: If you see no chance in a discussion, you simply ban your opponent? I heard a lot about this program, and my friend told me much about the countless hours he spent for - and how much he enjoyed it. But the things he told me know according to the pocture above, you might have awoken a sleeping lion. Find a solution for your egotistic decisions, but stop trying the easy way out. I can ensure you: You will regret! He is one of my best friends for years but I am scared of having him as an enemy! This will be my only post ever! Maybe I should come back tomorrow one more time to find out if this way deleted by the (same?) admin! |

| Posted: | | | | Do you think he wouldn't have done if he could? He is banned from everything: Contributing, forum posts, even private messages to friends. And all that happened without any info. One minute he contributed, in the next minute he was blocked. So he wanted to ask in the forums.... not allowed in any forum anymore. And as he even couldn't contact any friend on the site to do some "research", he asked me to create an account. |

| Posted: | | | | If your friend is so bothered why did they get you to create an account and not create a second one of their own to post?

| Posted: | | | | Your posts enhance my doubts about the system of this site:
- You (anybody of the admin department) ban a person based on lies. Whatever my friend did: It didnÄt fit any of the accusations the picure says he has done - Your system makes him reach a site which tells him that the ban is away after 24 hours. If not he will recieve a message from an admin - As this didn't happen you expect him to create a fake account? After the experiences of the last few days, do you think he believes that any fake account could clarify what has been completely cut off for his regular account? And at the same way disappointed and angry person should search for the confrontation after your system has shown him clearly, how they handle confrontations with him? So I've been installed as a buffer to handle this (hopefully) the diplomatic way. - @scotthm: This phrase is easy to translate: All the bans and blocks are nothing else than an abuse of power. I've read all the rules on your site and saved them. And I got a copy of the forum thread my friend created last. I got no insight in his contributions but I'd like to say that his numbers speak for him. And if your site/the responsible for this horible situation is not willing to fullfill the lift of the ban after the announced 24 hours and doesn't fullfill it's own rights to inform my friend even why it wasn't lifted and finally my try to clear up the whole situation, this might become a legal affair. Abuse of power never was and never will be acceptable. Not even in this tiny forum.
I didn't plan to communicate that much. Actually it was planned to check out the thread today and if it still exists and is in communication, I could have deleted my account. So be so kind and clarify that stuff with him as soon as possible that I can leave. |

| Posted: | | | | You seem to harbour the misconception that any of the people here have any influence on this. Everyone on these forums is merely a fellow user with no influence whatsoever on what is going on at Invelos (or lack thereof). Unfortunately, the company owner, Ken Cole, has not been communicating for a couple of years now, and the program has not seen any updates. The only things still working are new profiles and profile updates getting accepted into the database and these forums being up and running. Other than that, nothing, I'm afraid. Support tickets have gone unanswered for years as well. So I reckon the only way to get your friend's problem sorted would be to contact Invelos. But that seems to be exceedingly difficult to accomplish these days... |

| Posted: | | | | @dee1959jay: Just imagine you are in the forums on Monday, do a load of contributions on Monday, don't recieve any message from an admin or similar, and on Tuesday, when you try to contribute, you reach the picture of the initial post.
As I ready through at least one or another forum thread: Obvilious it seems that nobody from Invelos is present here. According to the other picture, these actions were caused by an admin of the site. As I am only guest of this confusing system (and never will become part of) I don't know the hirarchy of the admins or who has the sufficient rights to ban anybody.
In a forum where everything has to be done by rules (I'd like to say that there are too many rules to remember every line of each), how could it happen that an admin, a person which is responsible for keeping all done by the rules, now breaks the rules himself? I only can repeat: This is abuse of power!
And altough I am only intermediary in this case, it bothers me. Quite sure this thread would have much more chances to be read by the originater in another section, but I won't spend money to be able to write elsewhere!
It might last too long until this is read by the one in authority, and if, I can't say what the lawyers of my friend are going to do then. He has had fun, he has done a lot of work, but this situation is no fun anymore. |

Blathering like that will get you zero sympathy. And if your friend ever get the ban lifted he would be wise to not be associated with you. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | Account restrictions are, as far as I know, temporary, usually just a day or so. So your friend should just cool it and wait for the restriction to be lifted. Also, I have never heard of accounts being restricted by mistake, so your friend must have done something wrong, even if he doesn't think so. Time for a bit of soul searching, maybe? Furhermore, you seem to want your friend to be anonymous, but indicating that he's active in the forum and has over 10,000 contributions - that rather limits the "suspect pool". And "asking for a friend" is always a bit suspicious in itself. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar | | | Last edited: by GSyren |

I only can repeat: This is abuse of power! Here is an excerpt from the forum rules: Quote: "Bannable" offenses include, but are not limited to, the following list of activities. Obviously Invelos reserves the right to ban accounts for reasons not listed, and that's well within their rights as the forum owner. | Posted: | | | | Quoting Kornelia: Quote: this might become a legal affair. Based on what damages? Your 'friend' paid for software, which he is still able to use, so he is getting what he paid for. Unless I missed something, Invelos has no legal obligation to allow him to contribute or participate in the forums. Quote: Abuse of power never was and never will be acceptable. Not even in this tiny forum. Ken may be guilty of a lot of things...lack of communication being the worst...but abuse of power has never been one of them. The fact that he is still paying to keep the lights on shows that he still cares about the people that use his software. The fact that he has the power to shut this place down and has chosen not to speaks volumes...at least to me it does. Would I prefer that he was more involved? Yes, but the software does what I need it to do, so I am happy. All of that being said, I know Ken...and we all know who your 'friend' is. Based on what I know and have seen, my guess is that your 'friend' isn't telling you the whole story. If he was banned from contributing...unless it was a glitch...there was a good reason. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. It's kind of hard to say what may have happened without understanding the scenario. It also appears you don't know what your friend did so how do you know the punishment doesn't fit the crime? |
