In version 2.4 when i sorted by title it would sort all the movies starting from numbers to letters. Now when I sort by title its all messed up and there is no rhyme or reason to the sort order.  Anyone know what happened to this oh so sweet sort function and why did they mess with it to begin with?

Thanks

You can set the title sort for each DVD individually from DVD->Personalize.  Set the sort title to whatever you like to change the sort order.

But that defeats the purpose of sorting an already uploaded database of over 600 movies in it. I don't want to go type in the sort title for each one of those.  Why can't it sort it like it use to by the title thats already loaded?

Sort titles have been a personal thing for a few years now. It was that way in 2.4

I had 2.4 and when I reassigned collection number by title, it would sort them correctly.  Why the change?  I only purchased the new version because it would only let me do 50 with the new version 3. If I would have known I was going to have to input this all over by hand I would have used Excel so I could sort the collection correctly.

Thank you for the help and input.  I'm just frustrated at spending the $30 for the software and it doesn't even do a simple title sort like it use to.

I've been using the Profiler for over seven years and it works for me and I've got almost 8.000 titles entered.

I have been using profiler for about 2 years now and have recommended it to everyone because of its ease of use, its one click sorting functions, and its outright coolness.  Its still a great program, but I had to re-enter all of the UPC's last night because I was combining my collection with my girlfriends and I didn't know I had to enter them into the new database in the order I wanted them to display when running a report on them.

Ok, I had to test something with a DVD I had not yet entered.  Last night the site was down so I couldn't add anything to my owned list. It went directly into my "wish list".  Well when I ported them over today to the owned list, it erased the sort titles that are automatically put in when you add a new title.  So, if the site wasn't down last night when I inputed in all of these, I wouldn't be having a sorting issue right now.

There should still be an option in later releases to auto fill that in for you and not have to go through them individually and do it by hand.

Thanks for the help.

You don't have to do each DVD individually - See the button under "Collection List - All" If you press the tab directly underneath you can sort your entire list how you want. Press title and it sorts it in alphabetical order.

jjpm, I don't think anyone else is seeing the problem you see... Sort Title is (99% of the time) set to the main title, and is automatically done like this when you add a new title, so just doing a Sort on Title works apart from a couple of 'oddities'.
The odditites can be fixed by changing the Sort Title to what you want.

This system, used in 3.0.3, is almost exactly the same as was used in 2.4 except that removing the sort title (or on the rare occasion it has somehow been removed) will now sort it to the top of your collection rather than saying "Oh, it's blank, I'll use the main title".

Only if you have removed lots of sort titles manually should you be having this problem!
