| Posted: | | | | And your rationale for excluding "Beta" plugins would be .... ? Edit: Oh, I think I answered my own question - you want to "Pin" each Plugin announcement, not this topic that makes a list. I get it. Then might I suggest that another pinned topic might be "Plugins in Beta" or something like that. Then you will have the complete set of actual deliverables. Or .... maybe the one pinned topic could have a couple of lists - at least for now, all lists are relatively small: "Hosted Plugins", "Non-Hosted Plugins", "Beta Plugins" - or whatever makes sense. One stop shopping for users to see what is available in some form or another. How's that? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. If Ken pins this one and renames it to "Available Plugins" I keep the first post up to date and would include beta plugins as well. | | | Matthias | | | Last edited: by goodguy |

The problem as I understand it, is that Ivelos must be very careful about what they officially endorse considering how easy it would be for someone to write malicious code and present it as a plugin. If they host the plugins on their site, it could cause them headaches is someone were to do something like this. The current system of users posting links to their own plugins hosted elsewhere insulates them to a small degree. But I do believe Ken it trying to address this issue at this time. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

The problem you bring up is significant, regardless of whether the plugin is hosted. No company wants their good name trashed. When I worked for a large computer company that used a lot of business partners, there were many barriers to entry: fees, bonding, coding standards under non-disclosure and tons of legal agreements. In return, business partners got access to internal APIs, advance notice and influence over new features, development tools, etc. The trick for Invelos (and what I presume Ken is working on) is striking the balance between the amount of effort and expense he is willing to absorb, and the value of hosted plugins as a way to protect his public image (Edit: oops, and of course to enhance he value of the product to customers ...). | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | I don't want to disregard possible security problems, but at the moment, the number of people who have created publicly available plugins is rather limited. Also, the introduction and discussion of these plugins in the Plugin forum helps users to assess both value and risk of these plugins, whereas them being simply available in the download section provides very little information.
Thus, a reference thread linking to the other forum threads about existing plugins seems more valuable to me. Granted, from an author's POV, the download section would provide a larger possible user base, as you can simply click the Get More Plugins link in the program without ever visiting the forums, but as a user, I would want to know a little bit more about what I'm getting there. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | *Bump* Now that the laptop no longer is on the bed, I ask again: Can we get this thread pinned to have a reference point for available plugins as introduced in various other forum threads? | | | Matthias |

Thanks for pinning this thread. One minor thing: It would we nice, if you could change the thread title from "Pin Available Plugins" to just "Available Plugins". Thanks in advance.
@Plugin Authors:
I will keep the overview in the first post updated as new plugins emerge. If I somehow missed yours, provide a link to your forum thread and I will add it to the list. Same goes if a label like Beta is no longer applicable. | | | Matthias |
