| | Posted: | | | | I am a bit disgusted by some users on other forums that kinda brag that they use DVDP with a crack so they don't need to pay.
I was wondering why DVDP only requires a userid to submit profiles and have your collection online, but not to download profiles. This would immediately disable all illegal versions in the field. |

| | Posted: | | | | I don't think they are here, for the simple reason that they are not THAT active. I think only a minority of DVDP users are active on the forums here. Anyway, having their names won't help for the simple reason that they are not registered users. Also, I guess that in the p2p world, there must be a crack circulating, so there are probably a lot more illegal users.
The only point I want to make is that I'm surprised that downloading profiles doesn't need a valid userid. Software with online content is the easiest to protect against piracy, since without a valid account the software is useless. |

An illegal users is much more interested in being able to download all those profiles and fancy cover scans, he couldn't care less that he cannot make any submissions himself. This is not good, IMHO, if there's one thing you'd want *and can* take away from illegal users, it's downloading profiles. Just require them to sign in into the website. (However I now realize that by default you don't get an account, just a registration key). |

Although I suppose what Ken has to consider is how many paid users are there out there who haven't signed up to the website. They're the ones he'd risk pissing off. |

None of the key generators out there generate valid keys. The program may accept them, but it knows the difference.
