I have Version 3.0 and I am unable to add any new DVD's to my collection as the following message appears:

" This file format is a later version that this program's version. The new format is incompatible with this version. To process the file, obtain a newer copy of DVD profiler"

Then when I press OK I get the following error message:

"An error has occured processing this file"

What is going on? Why can't I use Version 3?

The current version is 3.1. Maybe this is the reason.

Because its an old version, it doesnt support the new features added in the new version. If its a piece of crap, you are free to use any other software, nobodys holding a gun to your head.

Download and install the latest version:
http://www.invelos.com/Downloads.aspx

But before you install remember to do a backup, just in case.

How can I do a backup when Version 3 doesn't even work?! And to think I paid good money for my Registration. What a complete waste. I should have fed the kids instead

Looks to me like you didn't pay anything for your registration...No Icon besides your name. Another free loader complaining again.

Open DVD Profiler, from the top menu select File -> Backup Database...
After that close DVD Profiler and install the new version.

Download doesn't even work. It says it's a zip file. I don't have any software to open zip files. Why can't they allow a normal download. This is getting too hard

If you use Windows XP, it has it built in. Right-click the file and select "Extract here" or something along those lines.

1) Zip is pretty much as standard as it gets.... anything but a zip file would not be a normal download.
2) Windows can open zip, and have been able to do it so long I can't even remember when it started.

Modern windows systems can open ZIP files by default. And even if not, how did you come this far without an unzipper? How did you install Profiler in the first place.

I think you are just a troll making trouble. If you really wanted help, you would be nicer to people who are trying to help you.

I'm not sure. Do I need to have an unzipper program installed? I'm not computer literate so I apologise for sounding stupid.

Thanks for all your help whispering (and all others)

I sincerely apologise for my attitude on this forum today - it was uncalled for. I was having a very bad day and my frustration came out.

Once again thanks. I have managed to extract and now have Version 3.1 set up and it is working perfectly.

Cheers
