Well, now they're the same again...

It did have me baffled, as I consequently never use www in any adresses - and sites that requires it looses a lot of points right there in my mind... :-)

It doesn't seem the IP changed in the meantime, so it looks like the webserver got defaced rather than a DNS-hijack...

In either case, I guess a camera on Ken right know would make for an enjoyable episode of CSI...

Or your Windows still has the IP cached... Try going to a command console and type

ipconfig /flushdns

- then try again...

Fair enough - then do this instead:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart

Not running Linux either

I don't think it'll work anyways since I am using a router and I think it holds the IP cache.

What, you're on a Commodore 64 running BASIC?

Seriously, unless you have set up whatever operating system you're running to actually use you router as DNS-server, whatever the router has cached in unimportant...

Mac OS X

Just booted my Windows PC, flushed the DNS table and still getting that other site on that computer.

But my network is indeed DHCPed.

No webserver defacing, just a DNS authority change that is supposed to be seamless.  Rather not in this case, but it should sort out shortly.

Which is Linux (or, at least Apples own variant of it - but it is built on Debian, IIRC...

But then the correct command is
lookupd -flushcache

DHCP'ed, but that doesn't mean you're using your router as DNS. On the WinBox, type "ipconfig /all", and see if the DNS-addresses are for your providers servers or your router...

Right, then - so the IP did change without me noticing it... :-)

What is the TTL for the zone? When you say "shortly," I'm guessing 3600 or so?

As I said, my router is my DNS server

No, the IP didn't change.  The authority for the DNS changed, in order to correct the issue some users were experiencing resolving static.invelos.com.
