| Posted: | | | | Hi All,
When I want to download my online collection the program shows the name of the computer from which the last upload occurred (Correct and very usefull) and also the time. But the last is in another timezone - I guess the one from Invelos's servers.
Any way to set this to show my local time? I'd really like to verify the upload time before downloading...
(And if not possible: could this be asked for as a new feature?)

| Posted: | | | | I guess I'm confused. Are you using the online collection as a means of transferring between 2 different computers or as a substitute for a backup? I have yet to d/l from the online and I only upload every couple of days unless I have added some new DVDs. I do backups every day though and use a USB stick to transfer the backup to my laptop if it's not connected to the network for keeping both computers in sync.
When I just checked, the time shown online collection for last upload matches my local time, at least for an upload that I just did. If this is the server time, then the server may be located in the Central (U.S.) time zone (GMT -6) You could figure the time by adjusting from that if you really need the exact time. | | | Kevin |

| Posted: | | | | I had actually never looked so closely at the information It indeed seems to use the server time of the Invelos server when showing when the last upload occurred. I agree that it would be nice if it would convert that time to, at least, the time of the timezone according the current computer setting. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | Antalod's confusion made me look better into the online function. Indeed I was using it as a transfer, I have two PC's in the house which are often not on at the same time and was using online to synchronize.
I guess this is not intended usage, I now found out not all data is put online, which makes it useless for this purpose anyway. Probably a legal issue as well, so no use to ask for that feature :-)
But a local time would be logical, only not that crucial anymore. Probably why nobody else ever asked.
Thanks all for the response.

To my knowledge everything but selfscanned covers is uploaded. Did I overlook something? But you are right, use the built-in backup if feasible. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

Erik Time is as I recall Zulu-, or Greenwich, or World Standard Time, which is all the same. Since you are living in a timezone +1 it shouldn't have been that hard to figure out. It makes more sense to use one standard time on a site because otherwise the timestamps of the database would get horribly confused, and that's only the smallest problem. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

That's why I suggested to only display the time in the window when doing the upload, converted to the timezone on the computer. The stored element on the server could then remain the actually server time. Just like some FTP clients can do... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. cya, Mithi There is one thing which isn't restored correctly. (I use the online backup purely to keep a laptop in sync with the main PC (and its quicker to download the changes from the Internet than making a full backup / restoring backup for a single dvd change..) If you have any manual EAN codes then when they are downloaded from the online backup, the system doesn't put them into the correct collection.. i.e. I have a "Dr Who" set which I use to hold all my DR Who dvds (and in amongst the list I have three manual profiles for 3 that I have as a copy from the TV - which don't yet exist on DVD). When I download my online collection, the system carefully removes these three manual profiles and puts them in the main list - not within the collection. I just have to manually add them to the set each time.. | | | Paul |

Ah, doesn't have those kind of DVDs, thats why I've never seen it. I will look into it and correct the KnowledgeBase-article accordingly. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | Tags is another one. Not sure if added/removing existing tags to a profile is stored online, but added new tags surely are a prblem.
I just added a new tag for testing, tagged a profile with it, uploaded, downloaded on the second machine and the new tag was not on the second PC. |

| Posted: | | | | Tags, notes, view history, purchase information, headshots, cover images and possibly something else I forgot are all local only that can be syncronized only by using the backup feature. While the online can provide an emergency backup, the best way is to use the backup function and either copy the file over the network or use a USB stick to get it to another computer. | | | Kevin |

Most likely the database_table for tags isn't built/updated after the download but only on opening the database. Quoting antolod: Quote: Tags, notes, view history, purchase information, Nope, those are all there, believe me, I tried. Quote: headshots, cover images Cover images: yes, they get lost, but thats only a problem for selfscanned, the others are in the online-db. Headshots: Not tested but most likely they are not uploaded. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |
