| Posted: | | | | Ever since I updated from Intervocative to Invelos, I have been unable to scan DVD covers. I am still using the same scanner, and the same software, and the scanner works, but the resultant image is distorted - see DVD #765 in my online profile. Any clues anyone - I cannot see anywhere in the program where there are any parameters that I need to setup or change ??? So at the moment I have to scan the image in v2.4 and then copy/paste it into v3 thanks |

| Posted: | | | | You'll need to paste the image here, the online collection doesn't show images you have locally, only those in the database.
I don't have a distortion problem with the images, but do find I have to crop them before rotating them, otherwise I get an error. I'm not aware of any parameters you can change. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

thanks I don't know about anyone else, but I have never been able to get my scanner to work from within Profiler. However, even if it did, I would recommend using the scanner software and and then a good picture editor and then importing the picture into Profiler to avoid adding another layer of control the scanner has to deal with. I scan my stuff to a holding directory, then use Paint Shop Pro to do any tinkering needed, then paste into Profiler as a finished image. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | I'm guessing you are importing a scan at too high of a resolution into DVD Profiler, which causes distortion; the program cannot handle images over a certain size. You should do a re-size command on the image with photo software to height 700 before importing into DVD Profiler. Let me know if that works. | | | Last edited: by Doombear |

| Posted: | | | | I am importing at the lowest resolution, so that suggestion is not valid. I have done nothing different since changing program versions - it is a bug in the new program, and I don't see why I should have to now go outside the program to scan and edit just to get the cover images |

| Posted: | | | | Nobody's suggesting you should have to go outside the program, they're simply trying to help you work round the problem, that's all. How about a few more details, such as what kind of scanner do you have, what version of twain is it running and is it the most up to date version of Profiler you're running? Also, posting the distorted image here may help as it'll show exactly what the problem is.
Edit: another reason to use an outside program is because these programs are designed to handle images much better than Profiler can, therefore you could end up with better quality images just by waiting until the end before importing them into Profiler. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

I scan my stuff to a holding directory, then use Paint Shop Pro to do any tinkering needed, then paste into Profiler as a finished image. ?? I have always used the scanning program within Profile as it tends to cut down a couple of steps , ( cutting/pasting and storage),, When I do (right click on image /edit cover images) scanning from the Profiler 3.1 program with my Epson, the image has to be resized . I have found that resize to 1100 (from approx 3100 to 4400 ) seems to work best for me . When Profiler starts up the scanning program, it is the same program I would have used if I went to the short cut link within windows and started it up that way., | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I also have profiler calling up my scanner's software, so that when I finish scanning/editing it goes straight into the profiler window. No saving or copy/pasting needed. | | | With every passing hour our solar system comes forty-three thousand miles closer to globular cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules, and still there are some misfits who continue to insist that there is no such thing as progress. |
