I am using robocopy. It is much faster than full backup/restore (at least with a big database). I still do backup occasionally just to be safe and because it is possible to restore individual profiles from backup. But to synchronize database from desktop PC to notebook, I use robocopy.

Robocopy comes with Vista and is available for older Windows and it is free and is easy to use:

Save:
robocopy /mir "mydvdprofilerfolder" "\\server\backupfolder"

Restore:
robocopy /mir "\\server\backupfolder" "mydvdprofilerfolder"

I haven't heard of robocopy before, seems pretty robust - like xcopy on steroids.

A lot of corporate IT shops use it extensively. It has been used in several IT shops I have worked in to backup regional site data to head office and restore it when necessary. Also useful for deploying content to web-farms/gardens. Great product with options for almost any data copying task you can think of and can do a CRC check to ensure data integrity.

Can't you simply keep the database somewhere on the network all computers can access? It won't allow you to have more than one instance of DVD Profiler running at once, but besides that it should work.
