| Posted: | | | | Still can't find any info for what port is used by this program Connection test is failed with 'socket error #10061'. Firewall is off. My provider is blocking some ports: 25, 135-139, 445, 21, 23, 69, 80, 8080, 254, 255, 161, 69 and I can't connect nor with usual settings, nor alternative way, nor via transparent proxy. Help please! |

| Posted: | | | | DVDProfiler uses Ports 1150 up. So there should be no problem there. BTW what kind of provider do you have? Ports 80 and 8080 are standard TCP/IP - ports and should better not be blocked.
EDIT: Did you try menu "Tools -> Options -> Online -> Check connectivity" ? | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | The ports are probably blocked to his computer, not from. But it does sound like a port block condition. |

| Posted: | | | | You said thwe firewall was off, is that a software firewall. You wouldn't happen to be behind a router of somesort with a hardware firewall attached? |

I just ran a quick tcpdump during the "test internet connection" and it looks like the profiler simply uses a random port > 1024 for source and 80 as destination, pretty basic stuff. Doesn't look any different from accessing the website via browser. Does your provider run a mandatory-proxy-server? Do you have any proxy setting in your browser(s)? cya, Mithi PS the tcpdump, if anyone is interested. 217.85.209.183 of course being me, 74.53.166.114 is the Invelos-Server | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | The blocked ports are certainly inbound they don't want anyone too dumb to operate/access a webserver on a non-80 port to be able to do so.
As others have observed, most programs use a (seemingly) random outbound port, and connect to a well-known destination port. This is normal. It's doubtful that your ISP could mess around with port blocking in such a way that kills DVDP, but without other noticeable breakages in other programs.
Other avenues of exploration:
When I upgraded to DVDP 3.1.1, Windows firewall noticed that the executable had changed, and blocked it from accessing the Internet until I explicitly re-authorized for the new version. Are you sure you're not running windows firewall?
Are you or your ISP running porn-blocking? it may have mistakenly blocked Invelos. Same thought for Malware/phishing blockers.
A little while ago DNS issues had users modifying their PC's "hosts" file. Did you make this change? Have you undone it since the issue was resolved? Is is possible your ISP **STILL** doesn't have the updated DNS??? | | | When someone asks you if you're a god, you say, "Yes" |

| Posted: | | | | Open up a MS-DOS window (Start > Run > "command") and type in "ping invelos.com" (minus quotes) and hit enter. Does it respond with 74.53.166.114? |

You can check using the following process:
In Internet Explorer, see Tools -> Internet Options -> Settings. If you are using a proxy server, note the details then enter them in DVD Profiler under Tools -> Options -> Online.
Then test your connection again. |
