THE DATA IS STILL IN MY COMPUTER IN THE COLLECTION FILE . THERE ARE NEARLY 3,000 DATA, WHICH I HAVE BEEN WORKING IN THESE LAST TEN MONTHS. I COULD NOT BE MORE UPSET... IS THERE A WAY OUT OF IT. I NEED SOME HELP.

What kind of loss? Did you suddenly have an empty database or are the files corrupt?

Did you check if you use the correct database? Maybe you are using a wrong or  empty database at the moment?!

Open your Profiler
Menu File/Open Database.

Here you can select the appropriate database.

Also when you say you can't recover the backup what does it actually do?

How did you try to recover? It should be this way:

Your backup-File should have the file ending *.dpb

Only this one can be recovered in the Profiler: Menu File/Restore Database.

DEAR THOSTEN,

TO BEGIN WITH...MANY THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
I WILL TELL YOU THE WHOLE THING.

I JUST DIT INSERTING THE DATA TO THE TAXI ( FRENCH ) MOVIE.
I GET OUT OF MY OFFICE AND I HEARD MY PC RESTARTING...THAT WAS SO WEIRD, THEN I GOT BACK...I HAD TO REENTER IN THE PROFILE SOFTWARE AGAIN, AND BY THEN, IT DID NOT ACCEPT THE TAXI DATA, FUTHERMORE, THE OTHER TWO TAXIS ( I ALREADY HAD IN MY COLLECTION FILE ) WERE, I SUPPOSED, AS YOU MENTIONED, KINDA CORRUPTED. AS THAT SUGGESTED, I DELTED THEM BOTH.
IMMEDIATELLY I TRIED TO MAKE A BACKUP, BUT THAT WOULD NOT GO MUCH FUTHER, WHICH MESSAGE WAS THAT IT COULD NOT READ THE ACTORS DATA, AT THAT POINT I LOST THE BACKUP I HAD MADE LAST DECEMBER 16th - ONLY THE ONE I TRIED TO DO YESTERDAY WAS THER - I TRIED TO RECOVER THAT, BUT THE SAME MESSAGE ABOUT THE ACTORS DATA CAME OUT. I TRIED TO EXPORT THE DATA, STILL ON, TO SOME OTHER PROGRAM - WELL IT JUST DIT NOT WORK BUT ALSO MADE THE WHOLE THING DISSAPERAR- EVERY SINGLE DATA. I DUNNO WHAT WENT ON MY MIND, I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE I SHOULD GET THE LATEST VERSION, MINE WAS 3.0.2 - I WENT FOR THE 3.1.1 - I TRIED TO DO WHAT YOU MENTIONED - I COULD NOT HAVE MADE ANY CONFUSION IN OPENING, ONCE I HAD ONLY ONE FILE - THE DEFA\ULT ONE, I MEAN THE COLLECTION - IN WHICH I HAD NEARLY 3,000 DATA OF MY DVD COLLECTIONS- - WHAT BROKE MY HEART, SINCE LAST FEBRUARY I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THAT.
I TRIED, IN THIS NEW VERSION: 1ST, RECOVER THE BACKUP, AND THEN THE COLLECTION FILE, BUT BOTH WERE IN VAIN.
THE ONLY THING, ALL THE IMAGES ( COVERS ) AND DATA ARE STILL IN MY HARD DISK.
IS THERE ANY WAY OUT OF IT?
DO I HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN - I HOPE NOT.
THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION.

SINCERELY,
CHICO

Just to make it sure:
your HDD isn't possibly making noises like someone playing poolbillard within it?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Since DVD Profiler was not closed properly, some data in the tables became corrupted. Simply do a database repair and that should fix everything.

Hello Chico,

first of all:
try to backup all your existing data in your profiler (whatever possible...and other important data on your HD) immediately and store this backup file external (usb stick, CD, DVD - everywhere but not on your Harddisk).

It could be possible (like goblinsdoitall posted) that your harddisk is damaged. You should perform a complete system check for any kinds of errors, such like:

- file system
- bad cluster
- viruses
- malware

etc.

Good luck!

So your data is within the folder "Own files -> DVDProfiler -> database"?
If yes, copy your complete data set to a different location (e.g. Desktop)
uninstall all versions DVDPro, restart your machine, reinstall and enter your program key and make the initial download of the basic database. Now close DVDPro and copy back the rescued data restart DVDPro. Please let me know what happened.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

If it is this, Max deserves at least 10 positives, and I was thinking much to complicated

Chico,
did you try this database repair as 8ballMax suggested? This is an extra tool in your profiler folder!

I'm a bit confused now because of the lot of different posts coming up.

Time for which of the suggestions?
EDIT: But a databaserepair like Max suggested should be your first choice. You'll find it in the menu "Tools -> Settings -> and then the last item (should be something like "additional tools")"
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
