| | Posted: | | | | Well my CueCat is long gone and out to lunch. Are there any other recommendations of scanners? Something that is reasonable in price if possible. And if so, is there a tutorial on how to get a scanned barcode UPC into DVD Profiler. I have a large collection and it would save time once I got a barcode reader. Sorry for the question again guys.

| | Posted: | | | | Well not exactly inexpensive, but will work on your mobile version too is this one I posted aboutalso you can do a google shopping search for barcode scanners for some options. they only thing is you don't want a serial barcode scanner. You will generally want a keyboard wedge or usb (which will emulate keyboard wedge) basically keyboard wedge means that it goes between keyboard and computer and is the same as keyboard input. As long as that is the case it will work fine with dvd profiler. -Agrare |

They're still cheap but not as cheap as they were when they first came out -- read FREE at Radio Shack stores in the US. I don't know about the rest of the world, but at least here they were free. The first one I got was free. The original CueCat concept was interesting. Companies could put a bar code in their advertising which potential customers could scan with the CueCat -- and go right to their web site or a page with coupons, etc. It didn't catch on for a couple of reasons, privacy being the strongest, IMO. You had to load software which would mine information about your preferences and open you up to spam. The original CueCats were hard wired to be "recognized" online -- until someone figured out how to disable that feature. Thus the "neutered" CueCat came into being.
