I would like to renumber my collection, but not starting at 1.  I am placing the disks in binders and want to distinguish disk and binder.  I want 1001 thru 1200 in the first binder, 2001 thru 2200 in the second binder and so on ... is there any way at all to do this... and by the way, I would rather not re-organize anything, just renumber them as they are in the database now.  THANKS.

I've just had a few goes with various options and unfortunately it looks like the numbering system won't do what you want it to.
Are you aware of the location/slot fields available in the "Personalise" section? They are designed for the use you want. Unfortunately they have to be filled in manually, but it would mean you don't have to worry about collection numbers going astray.
For example, you could put in location: "binder 1", "binder 2" etc. and in slot you'd simply go 1, 2, 3 and so on.
I think for what you want to use it for, using the collection number is a riskier way to go. For example, every time you add a new DVD, it will automatically try and fill in whatever gaps you left so you'd have to make sure you edited the collection number every time.

I'll give it a try here.
I have 3 sections of numbers that I use, such as 1-400, 500-600, and 1000 and up.  For numbers 500-600 the way I did that was I numbered the first DVD in that range to 500 and then I went to Collection, Reassign Collection Numbers, Checked do not renumber below 500 and all the DVDs 500 and up were renumbered.  For you I think this would work.  Number the first DVD 1001 and for the Do Not Renumber range I would check do not renumber below 1001 and above 1200.  Then repeat that for 2001 and on.  Hope that helps you.

P.S.  I'm not sure if that will work if your other DVDS are numbered 2,3,4, etc.  but it's worth a shot.  Either way I think there is a way, you just may need to be more creative.  Good luck!
