| | Posted: | | | | I have a few box sets. e.g. i have the Adventures of Indiana Jones Box set (3 movies and bonus dvd). When i prepare reports, it only lists the Box Set and the slot number of the first dvd in the box set. I want it to list each movie (Raiders, Last Crusade, etc. with their slot numbers). The profile does contain each of the 4 discs and i set the slot # of each one for my changer.
So is there a way to have DVDPRofiler list each movie within the box set as a separate movie with slot #? Or should i manually delete the box set and then load each movie separately? |

| | Posted: | | | | Each movie is in the database separately already, but stored by disc ID; not UPC since there isn't one for each movie in the set. From the DVDp menu Select DVD, then Add to Collection then Select Add Inserted Disc (and if you haven't already drop the first disc in your PCs DVD drive. DVDp should detect the disc allowing you to select Add DVD. Do this for each disc then click the Add Now to Owned button. Instead of Add Inserted Disc you could have selected Add by Title and manually searched for and added the discs but inserting the discs assures you of getting the right profile. After you add the discs you can go back to the Box Set profile (aka the Parent profile) and add the individual discs ( Box Set Contents) to make a box set. These discs are also known as Child profiles. You said your box set profile has all the disc IDs in it. Did you add them or download it that way? As a rule (has anyone mentioned the Rules to you yet?  ) movie box sets won't contain the disc IDs, then child profiles will. | | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| | Posted: | | | | Thanks for the pointers and assistance. I did not read the rules before but i just took a look at them and see the notes about box sets.
Actually the box sets i have (Indiana Jones, Star Wars Trilogy) did not have the individual discs listed within the box set. I had to add them by clicking on the Add Disc button in the profile then assign my slot # to each disc.
I don't feel like fishing them out of the dvd changer to have DVDp download the data from my PC's dvd drive so it seems the easiest way is for me to manually delete the box set profile and then add the individual movies by looking up the title? |

| | Posted: | | | | You can keep the box set profile and (mostly empty except for the links to the individual movie profiles) and link the movies to it. It's a good way to keep things organized.

| | Posted: | | | | What also might help, if you right-click on the "update profile" icon in your boxset profile - the one that looks like a disc with a green arrow pointing down on top of it - and ask for "preview changes". In the preview there should be a section called "boxset contents" and you should see a list of disc IDs.
What I sometimes do is copy them into notepad and then, when I'm searching by title, I can compare the first few characters and double check I'm picking the right profile. |

| | Posted: | | | | I am getting the hang of the box sets now so thanks. I first started using DVDp a few years ago and then stopped. Now i have finally updated my database to make it current. Its a great program. Very professional.

Now there's a feature I could use... Yes, that would be a nice feature indeed. But, I think it sure be a user-selectable option. While I DO want to have profiles for each movie title within a box set, I don't want that same functionality for TV season sets (episode profiles). I doubt that I'm the only one who prefers things this way too, so having the auto-download as an option selectable at the time you are adding the parent profile is a must-have for me. |
