Let's see how they feel 3 months from now when major retailers have decreased the floorspace devoted to HD DVD players and discs to next to nothing. Many Wal-marts have already started doing this, and Best Buy seems to be next.

Here in the UK, any shops that sell HD-DVD discs (not many) have already cut the shelf space down to apporx 1/5th of the space BluRay gets.

Guess it will be the retailers who decide for the UK

(Shops I refer to are HMV, and GameStation) - Can take pictures if you require proof

Same thing has happened in Norway too. BD is getting a lot more floorspace compared to HD-DVD.

I'm trying to find some web sites that offer HDD disks  at a much lower price than BD,, just to get rid of them, since everyone is  'jumping'  on the Blue-Ray wagon,, yet I cannot find any proof of prices being dramatically lower than Blue Ray. Sure  Amazon and Warner's are having sales with 53 %  off etc.. but on BOTH formats..  Even eBay has these products listed competively.

There is a lot of HDD software product out there- both new and used- and no one at this point is giving the stuff away at lower prices..

Prior to the Warner announcement, I think a cheap dual-format player would have sold very well.  Since the announcement, I think a lot of people would avoid such a purchase hoping that HD DVD will die altogether.

Ok, who gave me the negative vote for that comment? Fess up.

The "they" I was referring to was the (HD) DVD Forum and Universal in particular. I certainly wasn't harrassing or disparaging anyone here. 

And if you want the info on Wal-mart, read the thread titled "Is Wal-mart killing HD-DVD?" at the Home Theater Forum, where people from around the country are posting comments about how they see this with their own eyes (and yes, it's not happening everywhere...yet), and articles on other websites  and technology news sites stating that they are receiving inside reports that other major retailers are next.

There are forums like HTF out there that get much more discussion than this place does on these issues, and the threads are filled with relevant links. many of the users here are also present on those boards as well, so they know what I'm talking about.

The information is there if you care to use Google. I don't think I should have to hand-hold everyone toward it.
