My digital PVR DCT3416 model displays back to my Digital TV (1080i) via 4 options:
channel 3 output /svhs/ componant video jacks/ and the all new HDMI output. I have been running some recent tests to determine why my  HDMI output will not show closed captioning to my TV using HDMI cable.
All the available outputs will display CC ,, but not HDMI..    ??

Then  I found this article on the internet..

Is this True..,  in your neck o' the woods??
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

CC works on line 21 of a standard NTSC signal. So it will not work over HDMI or upconverted component. The only way to get CC is to have the decoder in the Set Top Box/DVD Player/PVR...

Some devices of this type with HDMI output do have CC Decoders but you have to go into the setup menu and turn them on. Have you checked the setup on your PVR to see if it supports CC decoding?
Tom.
