With its position all but sealed up as the king of high definition home media, Sony has shed some light on its next wave of Blu-ray Disc players, including new features like Internet connectivity.

The rumor is that once 2.0 players hit the market, then the PS3 will get a 2.0 patch.  Same with the DTS-MA.  So this is good news for PS3 owners (assuming the rumors to be true).

Woah, web content, that's a pretty cool idea.  No wonder HD bit the dust.  No way to compete against forward thinking like that.

I hope you're having fun sitting this one out.  I have an HD-A2 and a PS3 and about 60+ movies between HD DVD and Blu-ray.  And I've never once had a problem playing a disc.  So while you're waiting, I've been enjoying totally stable HD viewing and loving every minute of it.

So what you're saying is that now they've won the HD war, they've decided they really ought to finish the product?

I'm not so sure that prices will go up, and if they do it would be a really bad move for BD since there still is a lot of fight left in the regular DVD. The general consumer is not convinced of real HD yet, and are more than satisfied with the SD quality of your standard DVD. The war is still standing until this group is convinsed.
