I got a Magnavox 32 inch hdtv really nice. I already had to get it replace because my hdmi channel got blocked and what the strange part was I was gone for the weekend when it got blocked.

Copy Protection: DVI / HDMI is blocked press exit then after told me to use component cables because my TV doesn't support HDCP.

Problem is not much information on this and cable company was of no help so Magnavbox after an hour on the phone shipped me a new TV.

Is this a common issue for HDTV?

Never heard of that problem.

Is it a cheap make TV? I suppose the connection could be poor and it got confused?

I always buy Magnavox because I like the name and brand. I never had an issue with any TV before. I wouldn't say it a cheap brand.

I do hand it to them I called Monday afternoon and I got my replacement TV Friday I tested hdmi port 2 and cable box works.

None of the TVs today are made in the US anymore, so you should go with the brand that has the best product, regardless of origin.  From what I've found in my research, LG makes probably the best rated screen around and they sell them to other makers and under their own name.  Sharp is also very highly rated.  Oleiva is also good (they use LG screens), etc.  Dollar for dollar, it would hard to beat a Sharp Aquos model, with HDMI, HDCP, 1080p, etc.

Magnavox consumer electronics is actually owned by Philips, the Dutch electronics company.

I have an issue between my PS3 and my Sharp Aquos that I find annoying (good thing I don't play any game on my PS3).  I can watch blu-ray movies fine, but when I play games the screen flashes constantly.  From my understanding, it is the handshake between the TV and the system via HDMI because of the copy protection.  The odd solution is to turn off a bunch of audio options on the PS3 before playing a game.  Then it plays fine.  Sony said not an issue with their system and Sharp said nothing wrong with the TV and it is not a model that can be firmware updated.  It is just a good thing my PS3 is just a blu-ray player for me.

That's odd. I have a Sharp Aquos and have no issues what-so-ever with my PS3 via HDMI.
