| | Posted: | | | | When i began using headshots V3 i have had nothing but trouble. I wasn't able to do a backup as i was getting an "Engine Error #8708" and when i used the repair utiltiy and choose the custom option to removed unsed cast/crew members i got the same error message at approx 60% of the way into removing unused cast/crew. When i clicked OK i immediately got the message that the repair was complete. Now i have created a sucessfull backup i am trying to restore this backup on another system i have and it fails at 24% and the error i get is "Jpeg #52 " . So i reattempted to restore choose to not install the cast/crew and it still fails, so i tried again and choose not to restore the images and it fails at 100%. For anyone who suggest V4 i followed that advice after i managed to do a repair and then created this backup image and it's failing. Just wish i hadn't messed with the headshots as now my entire collection is at risk. | | | My collection PHPdvdProfiler Custom edited ( Matrix theme )

Backup with this option Disabled: Include cast/crew databases, with photos
If that was unsuccesfull:
Do a Custom repair with at least the following 3 options checked:
Do not enable: Preserve cast\crew with images
1. Remove unused
2. Cast members
3. Crew members
Click Repair

| | Posted: | | | | I don't know if you recall a previous post of mine Giga Wizard that was related to this same isssue except i couldn't make a backup as i was getting an engine #8708 error message at 17% . I had given up for about a month and went back and read over those replys and your post was the one that fixed my problem. I did a repair back then but it didn't help. This time i did a custom repair and selected the same options you listed above and was able to finally get through the backup process successfully. Now when trying to restore this backup image on my 2nd PC i was getting the JPEG Error #52 as you know. We'll i made a new backup and left the images options checked as i felt it was the images of the headshots and not the cover images and i also have many many custom cover images i would have lost but for the rest i could have just redownloaded them. I created a new backup and disabled the opton to include cast/crew and was finally able to install this backup on my 2nd PC and then followed up with headshots V4. Then created a new backup and uninstalled DVDP and all database files and then reinstalled DVDP and the new backup and all works great now. I can't thank you enough for your help on this issue. The more work (time) you have put in, the more backups you should have over a time period.
simple system:
backup before you make changes (name: Before .... backup)
backup after you make changes (name: Before .... backup)
worst case: you loose only the last changes
al ways: exit program, after this and restart program, and verify every thing is working in DVD Profiler.
more extensive backup: daily basis, after you make changes
Name day1, day2, ... day7 where day1 would be monday, in this case you could go back 6 days of work.
and always keep a fresh backup in another location, and update your online.

| | Posted: | | | | I have always done just that. Every time i add a title ( usually let them build up to 20 or so ) i do a backup but in this situation is unique in many ways.
I didn't understand the parent/child concept and didn't realize the value of flags and tags. I was out of work for 2 months due to a injury and had the free time to correct many things wrong with my database. Long story short i spent probally 20 hours going through my database and pulling dvd's off the shelves and relabeling them to match the changes i made. I did all this work over the period of a week or so and still made many backups yet due to creating so many of them i didn't know which one was which and probally deleted ones that i should have kept. I probally had 15 backups on my system and we'll it just didn't work out. One of the things i did was add headshots and this was what DVDP really didn't like.

| | Posted: | | | | yes this is correct.., I just googled .jpg error #52 and all the responses seem to lead me to recognise the problem of a corrupted jpg .,, ( most likely a bmp ext rather than jpg extention..)
So-o-o I would then suggest to find these head shots in profiler and open each one up and to have explorer/tools/view 'hide extension' tick box unchecked..
then check all those jpg to see which one is either a bmp or which one won't open ( the problem corrupted one) ..... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

| | Posted: | | | | don't know if this works this way. The image has an .JPG extension, the data in the image is no longer recognised as a JPG image. Depends on how the DVD Profiler opens the image. As this only happens after a restore of a backup. Could be anything that went wrong, compression, decompression, memory transfer problem, different routine that handles the JPG, it is not opening the image for display, ... | | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. So you can't see any extension etc. It's been that way every since we could have headshots.
