If your filter gets a hit on both the parent and any of the children then both are listed with the relationship preserved.
If your filter only hits the parent but none of the children match the plus/minus isn't seen. It's not an icon (static) but indicates there is a child present. The filter has eliminated the children so no need for the sign – it's not missing, just not necessary (and would be non-functional). | | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |
