I would like to see Film noir added as a standard Genre. The genre is sufficiently well defined and accepted generally to qualify as a genre in its own right. For a general discussion of the history see here.

I've have added FILM NOIR to my version of the Profiler, and other genres.
But then I'm not much for adding things to the supplied profiler if there are any other methods of getting the job done.
Before customized genres became available I used tags and they worked pretty good for over 8 years.
I've got about 200 film in this genre.
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

For my money this is why we have Custom Genre. I think we have more than enough Gnre categories right now. I don't want to see even 100 Genre which would be very easy to achieve.

There' too much argument about the defition of noir and I'd hate to see Invelos have to involve themselves in the dispute.

Can't we just use existing genres?  Noir seems to fall under classic, crime and drama.

I had this set up as a tag long before custom genres were possible and I'm not planning on redoing them.

Looks like we Film Noir fans have had a win. Film Noir has been added as a standard Genre.

Thanks Ken and Gerri.

Are you sure it's not just your custom genre? I'm running 3.5.1 (build 1252) and I don't have it in my list.

Uh... where do you see this? I have updated to 3.5.1 build 1252 and I do not have Film Noir in my genre list.

Doh! I just realised that I have added it as a custom genre. New Years Day has some challenges after the night before.

It is in the standard drop-down list. You might want to try refreshing the online profile list.

I refreshed mine... is still not there. But even the custom genres goes in the standard list you know? I have all the standards plus all my customs I created... but no Film Noir.
