| Posted: | | | | Just wondering:
Has there been a shift from always Tuesday to Sunday? Or does it just have to do with the holidays in the US? |

| Posted: | | | | I would guess it's a holiday thing, or maybe more are changing from stupid people seeing the Sunday ads and thinking they can go to the store Sunday and get the new releases. Everyone is always catering to the ignorant, this may just be the next step.
I know there have some Friday releases in the past few years, but the Sunday thing is new. |

| Posted: | | | | I think it is just because of the holidays...I guess we will know for sure on the 4th. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | One other question that might be related. What is the release date? The officially announced (e.g. 12/22/08) or the date when it was first on sale (e.g. 12/17/08).
I have the problem here with "The Dark Knight" which was on sale in several stores all over Germany 5 days before the official release date. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | I would stick to the official release date, otherwise it would quickly become a mess, cuz stores sometimes just sell a DVD earlier.

| Posted: | | | | yeah.... there has been countless times I been able to get DVDs earlier then release date (once I remember getting a title 2 weeks before release)... especially with shopping online. There is many places that would break release date without even thinking about it. But that don't change what the release date for the title is. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Definitely a holiday thing. To add to other's statements, I know when the Suncoast store was still here in town, I could usually find titles on the shelf anywhere from a week to 10 days before the official release date (when they appeared on the shelves in other major stores). It seems to me that our friends at Wal-mart and Best Buy are the big "release day" offenders here this holiday season. I note no less than 27 titles that were released on a Friday, Sunday, and Monday during the last two weeks. Oh well, hopefully it will settle down after the first. | Posted: | | | | Just my two cents...it is a holiday thing. The studios are asking for earlier release dates toward the end of the year to get more money. By waiting for Tuesday(s), they lose that selling time when they could be selling it longer. Kung Fu Panda was one, Traitor, the new Resident Evil...all didn't have offical dates. And yes, as someone in retail it's a pain since the rest of the changes still happen on Tuesday. Here's an article on it. | | | Lori |
