Since they will stay in boxes forever, here is an approach:
(1) Basic strategy - use collection number
(2) If you are not being selective, just resequence your collection to suit your taste, or use the existing sequence
(3) Sort by collection number
(4) Put batches into boxes by coll# sequence
(5) Label each box with sequence number range of profiles inside
Alternative, if you want to select
(3) Flag a box's worth of profiles
(4) Sort - by flagged first
(5) Assign a unique block of sequence numbers to the flagged items
(6) Put them in a box, and label the box with the sequence range
(7) Unflag all
(8) Goto to (3) and repeat until done, remembering to backup your database every few boxes, just in case you mess up the numbering
When done, either print a report, or create an Excel file with the CSV plugin, and you're good.
You will have captured the mapping between profile/coll#/box until you need to reopen the boxes
