Hello. I had no problems with my databases in windows XP. Now i've windows 7, so I've install dvdprofiler on my new PC and I can't never open DVDProfier, I've the folowwing message : " Unable to load the selected database, the following error occured while attempting to open the database : Access violation at adress 00A37106 in module 'dvdpro.exe'. Read of adress 00000008" and the it is proposed repair the database, select another database, creat an empty database... Impossible at every time. Is there problems because of windows 7?

How did you transfer the database to your new pc?
Did you already try a database repair? You can find this option in the profiler folder or in the menu of the profiler. In general the profiler works perfectly with win 7.

It seems Windows 7 is more strict implementing user rights and I had some problems initially when I imported my old database from Windows XP but they sorted themselves out eventually. Maybe running as administrator is needed in your case? Or try to copy the files to an unrestricted location and then back again. Just guessing here...

Never had any problem, but then I did an upgrade to win7.
Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer.

Did you install DVDProfiler with the same account you're using it now?
Which version of Win7 are you using?
- if it's Home Premium or better, check if you have the user rights to access the folder C:\User\(Username you used for installation)\Documents\DVDProfiler and all it's subfolders. If not change the owner of these folders to the username you're using (Admin rights required).
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I also bought a new PC with Win 7 64 bits, and run dvdprofiler without problem.
You could try to copy your folder "My documents/DVD Profiler/databases/default" that was correctly working on your old computer to the same place in your new computer. Finding a correct database, perhaps dvdpro will open normally. If that doesn't work, you could PM me your phone number. We could discuss more easily in french to see what to do.

Do you have full access to the DVDProfiler folder?
You can check by "right click -> Properties -> Security" Look for "Unknown User" (or similar). If an "Unknown User" appears you need to take the Ownnership of this folder to your main account. For doing this click the button "Advanced" in the "Security"-tab and in the now opening window choose the tab "Owner"

BTW: Always keep in mind the second commandment for M$-Windows users: Never run your OS with administrator rights unless you want to install new software.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
