Ok I desperately need help!

My problem is that I never backed up my database. I rebooted my OS without making any backups or anything, so now I have no way of restoring my database.

The only backup I have, is a separate XML for every movie in my database, but there's no way to import xml's with dvd profiler. Bulkedit is supposed to allow importing xmls, but it only works with one collection.xml file not a separate xml for each movie.

SO now i'm stuck, what should I do? I just want to get my database back, can anybody help me??

and too bad you never uploaded your library to the  'free' online service that Invelos gave you with your paid registration ...

back up back up Back up ...

and looking over your post again.. I see you mention  ' I rebooted my OS ' I guess that means:
I formated my Disc drive?  Or did your Harddrive pack it in? ,, and you changed over O/S with another drive??
Maybe your old HD  still has the  Profiler folders on it??

I know.. so is there anything I can do, besides re-adding my entire collection (1000 dvds)

There really should be XML import option on this thing..

Apparently I can't read
Just skip this and read Mithi's answer...

You have only backuped to XML? Then download and install mediadogg's Bulk Edit plugin (version 2.10 is for DVD Profiler 3.6.1 only). Run the plugin and choose "Load" --> "XML and Validate" to import your backup. Missing data can be downloaded from Invelos via Profile Refresh.

For more help and examples about Bulk Edit, have a look in the official plugin thread.

Step 1: Have a look at the data-recovery-link in my signature, maybe "Restore from old HDD" is possible.

If not: You can try to re-import every single XML seperately, if neccessary by renaming it to collection.xml first. Sounds like tedious work

Other possibility, join them together. Go to a command-line (or "DOS-window"), switch to the directory where the XMLs reside, and assuming that no other XMLs are present there, simply type:
copy /A *.xml collection.xml
Try if BulkEdit can use this, slightly faulty file, if not, read on ...
Open this collection.xml in an editor. Usually the structure of the collection.xml is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
<!--DVD Profiler Collection Export-->
<Collection>
  <DVD>
  </DVD>
  <DVD>
  </DVD>
  ...
</Collection>

If you look at yours you'll notice that the opening and closing "Collection" tag is missing. Simply add them at the beginning and the end of the file and try again to import it. (italics are a clarification)
If this still doesn't work (because it is still faulty):
Editor and scroll down to the end of the first profile and you'll notice
</DVD>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
<!--DVD Profiler Collection Export-->
<DVD>

whereas a normal collection would only show </DVD><DVD>.
Now try find&replace of your editor to delete all those extra lines, just make sure that in the end the <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?> shows up once in the very first line of the collection.xml

cya, Mithi

PS And if you can't make heads or tails out of my description: just zip all those single-XMLs and contact me via PM, I'll send you my email-address. Whole procedure can be done in under 5 minutes if you are a command-line-junkie like me

(1) What Mithi said ...    - 1st technique should work.
(2) Rest assured that I will make any minor adjustments to BulkEdit, if necessary, to save your data. We've got your back. I'll take recommendations from Mithi, should we need to make any changes.

By the way, you do know that you can do a recovery from the Online, if you had it posted. I haven't tried it myself, but I have read accounts that you get nearly everything back.
Thanks for your support.

Harharhar, the trap worked perfectly

But here you go, the taste of fraud wasn't nearly as good as expected...

Umm, am I missing somehting here... I'm looking at snk49's 925 profile online collection right now; surely the first step would be to try restoring from the online?

Online -> DVD Profiler Online -> Next (to login) -> select Download checkbox and Next -> Next and get those profiles back?

  I also suggested this earlier, but I didn't know the command.

Jupp, it wasn't there when the thread was started, see widescreenforever's posting
That seems to indicate that one of the other methods worked for him. Or he is really fast re-entering his data.
