I have entered a genre for each of my items.  Is there a way to sort by genre?

Thanks.  I found that, but the default Invelos layout does not show genres, and I have not been able to find a layout that does.  Maybe if I do the sort and then print a report, it will be sorted.  Still, I'd like to be able to see them sorted in a layout.

I used the default layout to sort by genre.  The report I am using shows genres, and it did group them, but it has the groups broken up - a bunch of Documentary, then Family, then Documentary.  I'd like to see all Documentary, then another group all together.

If I am not mistaken... it goes by the first genre in the list... so you would have to have the genre you want it to sort by as the top one.

Yes, that's correct.  But it will have a list of many a dozen Documentary movies, then some Family movies, then more Documentary.  They are grouped by genre, but the genres are not all together.  I'll go back and see if multiple genre entries is causing the problem.

I checked my genres again and did a report.  The first  Movie, Documentary, English TV, Movie, Coach House (local theater).  Afer that, it lists everything OK, with all genres grouped together. Maybe that's a fault of the report design.

I'm taking a break from this for a while.

By the way, it looks like the Option was set to lock (referring to your earlier response).

...

Could it be this are custom genres? Perhaps the program treats custom genres different than the built-in.

Yes, they are custom.  It's odd that the report worked OK after the frist few lines.
