Similar to this thread: what's the original title for the second 'Night at the Museum' film? There used to be a time where we took the original title from a rock-solid source - the credits - but no more, which has complicated things. From the rules:

Quote:
The Original Title field serves two general purposes, but in both cases allows for the tracking of the original feature title. For profiles which have an alternate title displayed on the cover, use the title from the film's credits. For titles released outside their country of origin, use the original release title.

There are now profiles in the database with two different original titles: 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian' and 'Night at the Museum 2'. To clean that up, we need to establish what the actual original title is. My own Blu-ray has ''Night at the Museum 2' on the cover and in the credits, but 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian' in the credits block. Since my Blu-ray is from a locality "outside the country of origin", I get to use the "original release title", but unfortunately the rules don't further define what that is, or where to take it from. Sites like IMDb, Wikipedia and BoxOfficeMojo all state the longer title variant, and without the "2". I assume that's the original title for our purposes as well?

CoO is US?!

None US profile has the 2 in it or an original title that differs to the title, so my first vote goes for
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

Of course I'll change if a different on-screen credit exists.

Edit: Shouldn't the first option be Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian? Or did you just miss a third option?

No: my Blu-ray just has "Night at the Museum 2" - both on the cover and in the credits. No "Battle of the Smithsonian" at all. There may well exist yet another locality that has the title variant you refer to - that just didn't occur to me.

Option 2, sir.  I've never seen it with a 2 anywhere in the credits.
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

Come and have a look at my disc, then...

So it's 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian' in the actual credits in the film's country of origin? Then that's the original title, indeed.

Neither have I, but Blu-ray.com shows the cover with Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.
We're on a mission from God.
